Namobuddha is a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site in Nepal, situated on a hilltop about 40 km from Kathmandu. It is associated with the past life of Shakyamuni Buddha. According to legend, Shakyamuni was born into a royal family and was a prince in his previous life. One day, while exploring the palace grounds, he encountered a starving tigress on the brink of death with her cubs. Moved by compassion, Mahasattva Shakyamuni decided to sacrifice his own flesh to feed the hungry tigress. Later, his remaining body parts, such as bones and hair, were discovered, and in memory of the young prince, the king constructed a Stupa on these remains. This site has since become very popular among Buddhists and Hindus, known as Namo Buddha.
