Setting Sail: A Morning of Anticipation

The morning of my Side Dolphin Island adventure began with a bit of a hiccup. I had arranged for a pickup at what I thought was a nearby hotel, only to discover it was a ten-minute drive away. In a slight panic, I called the contact number provided the day before. The gentleman on the other end was incredibly helpful, rearranging the pickup to my actual hotel location. Despite the mix-up, the driver was hospitable, and the organizer, who spoke multiple languages, ensured everyone felt welcome.

As a marine biologist, I was particularly excited about the possibility of spotting dolphins in their natural habitat. The thought of exploring the Mediterranean Sea and its picturesque beaches was exhilarating. The boat, filled with a diverse group of travelers, set the stage for a day of relaxation and adventure.

The organizer, a personable and passionate individual, took professional photos throughout the trip. His attention to detail ensured everyone looked their best, and the photos were available for purchase at a reasonable price. I couldn’t resist buying a few, as they perfectly captured the joy of the day.

The highlight for me was jumping off a pirate’s plank into the open sea near the Temple of Apollo. The thrill of the jump and the refreshing embrace of the water was a moment I’ll cherish. Sunbeds at the first drop-off point provided a perfect spot to sunbathe and soak in the serene beauty of the surroundings.

As the boat continued its journey, we were treated to a delicious lunch. While there was no fish on the menu, the barbecued chicken, rice, and salad were satisfying. The crew was attentive, offering more rice to those who opted out of the chicken.

Though we didn’t spot any dolphins or turtles, the breathtaking views of the Mediterranean more than made up for it. The trip’s length was just right, leaving us pleasantly exhausted and back at our hotel by 4 PM.
