Exciting tour of Sian Ka'an nature preserve with a chance to see wildlife in it's natural habitat - This tour was an amazing experience. We booked as 3 couples, so we were on our own boat of 6 guests with our captain, Tony. He was an excellent operator, it was a smooth and exciting ride through the mangroves of Sian Ka'an to look for wildlife, then out into the ocean to snorkel, and then to the town of Puerto Allen for lunch, and finally the boat ride back to the dock to meet our van transport.
The tour was about 8 hours total with some free time here and there to explore. Our guide, Macarena, split time between two boats, which was fine. She and the boat captains knew where the wildlife often visits and were very good at spotting the subtle cues that animals were near. I think we got lucky, as we did see wild dolphins out catching fish, and they came right up to the boats. We also saw a manatee and a huge sea turtle as they came up for air. The moments are brief but it's exciting to see them in their natural habitat.
This time of year was also a mating season for the frigate seabirds, which was really neat to see as they were doing quite a display. We saw roseate spoonbills, lots of pelicans, as well as cranes.
Lunch at Puerto Allen was fantastic. They have a lovely restaurant that made fresh rice, salads, chicken, and fish, with tortillas, they made it not spicy but had delicious spicy sauces so you could customize your heat preferences.
A note for anyone who is sensitive to sun, Sian Ka'an is a sensitive biological preserve so they ask that you don't wear sunscreen until the water activities are over (basically lunch onwards). I suggest layers of sun protection clothing, UV shirts, pants, hats, and bandanas have come a long way in being cool and breathable, as well as affordable. There is a canopy over the boat seating area but the shade depends on which direction you're going at the time.
I am so glad we booked this tour, this is a part of Mexico we hadn't had the pleasure of experiencing before, and our captain and guide made sure we had a great trip. The company also arranged the pickup and drop-off at our resort so it was seamless end to end.

Beautiful day in Sian Ka’an - Excellent guide, driver, and captains. Dolphins, a turtle, baby crocodiles, frigates, ospreys and nest, good snorkeling, good lunch. Highly recommended. Make sure you get the tour with less driving and more boat time. We drove less than 20 min from the biosphere entrance.

Excellent experience - We had an amazing time on the Sian Ka’an Boat Experience with FisherNatours. From the very beginning, the team was responsive, flexible, and genuinely helpful. They quickly helped us move our tour one day later after our flight was canceled, which took a lot of stress off our trip.
Our guide, Serena, was fantastic. She was knowledgeable, fun, and engaging. She explained the animals and plants in a way that made the whole day even more interesting and memorable.
The boat driver was also excellent. He was careful, attentive, and very helpful. Together with Serena, he showed us exactly when to look so we could catch the moments when the dolphins and turtles came up. It was such a highlight for us.
Lunch at the fishing village in Punta Allen was delicious. The fish and meat were well marinated and full of flavor. I also loved the walk from the jetty to the restaurant because we got to see the local houses and how people live.
I would highly recommend FisherNatours and this excursion.

Great tour de luxe to Sian Ka'an with guide Alex! - Great tour de luxe to Sian Ka'an. A small part by van and the rest by boat. Everything was perfect. Everything that was promised, we saw. The birds such as pelicans, albatross, cormorants, bald eagles, the dolphins at very close range, the large turtles and the crocodile. We snorkeled with the tropical fish species and swam in the lagoon. Lunch was delicious and nutritious. Our guide Alex is a great moon, born for his profession! Besides English, French and Spanish, he also speaks Dutch, so super nice! Thank you Alexandro, we will never forget this day!

False promises. Total bust! Most expensive snorkel trip of my life. - This review is for the tour "Sian Ka'an Deluxe", operated by FisherNatours, sold by a seller named Antonio. I was so annoyed by this brazenness of this provider that I take the trouble to write this detailed review here.
Short description: Advertised with the promise of seeing manatees, manatees are not even a planned part of the tour. You spend 6 hours transporting, racing across the open water, without any notable sights. The tour operator was more interested in completing the tour as quickly as possible than offering the customers anything. Boring and overpriced tour. Robbed lifetime!
Detailed description:
With the promise of seeing manatees, we are on this tour. We were picked up in Tulum by minibus. Picking them up took almost 1.5h until they were all collected. South of Tulum we were loaded onto a Speedbot at the beginning of the lagoon. On this we then raced for 1.5 h the 45 km towards Punta Allen through the lagoon. I can’t put it any other way, because you don’t see much at about 70 km/h.
Our guide Nikita spoke French, the tour is obviously aimed at French-speaking audiences. She often did not bother to explain the English part in the same detail as the French part. Her "English" was hard to understand as it still sounded French, only with English words.
It also opened up to us that you can no longer visit the manatees, as they are now strictly protected. That's the only reason we wanted to come here!
After all, we still saw cool birds on the trees.
Fortunately, when a bunch of boats stood on the water in front of us, there were also dolphins to see. But our boat had to queue in line and so we had to wait 20 min until we were allowed to see the dolphins up close for 3 min. Then we had to move on. After all, we stopped, the boaters actually wanted to continue straight away, so that they would probably be home sooner.
Behind Punta Allen we went out of the lagoon into the open sea. Somehow the boat captains managed to find a turtle in the middle of the sea, which we could observe for a short while. Then snorkeling was the order of the day. Fully 10 minutes we had time to paddle about 70m over the sea, in life jacket of course. The reef was not really a reef, I have never seen a worse snorkel spot.
Back on the boat we raced another 5 min along the coast, all in their wet bathing suits already freezing. At the next place you could bathe for 10 min in a shallow spot (without life jacket) in the sea. That kind of felt like supervised splashing. Then get back in and continue a short drive to a beach where we got off.
Here we got our lunch in a restaurant with buffet (if you can call the mini selection that). We have not eaten worse in Mexico (among other things spaghetti with pesto). After dinner we were allowed to chill on the beach for another 15 minutes. Although it was totally covered with plastic, we will probably have to get used to the sight everywhere in the future.
Then we had to go back on the boat, 1.5h without any other interesting sightings.
Another 80 minutes in the minibus rounded off this trip as the biggest waste of money and time.
I could have just about paid 130€ and lay down 7h in my hotel bed. The money would be gone too, but at least I would be rested. I wouldn't have missed anything!
