A « must « in Cairo - This experience was really great and should not be missed in any Cairo visit. We had a wonderful evening with Ahmed and Shorouk and felt like Egyptians. We cooked the food together and the atmosphere was almost like a family reunion. The food was three times as much for us but taste wonderful and we were initiated into « family recipes ». Finally we received a gift and were escorted to the taxi. Thanks to these great people !

Dining with a local family was so memorable! - Ahmed and family were the most gracious hosts to us as we felt like we were at a dinner party with old friends. We gathered in the kitchen to prepare and cook the food, learning about Egyptian culture at the same time. We were able to enjoy the food dining in the living room having fun conversation about culture and linguistics. Everything was absolutely delicious and it was a great start to our vacation!

An incredible experience - This cooking class was one of the highlights of my stay in Cairo! Ahmed and his family opened up their warm and gorgeous home to us and taught us some delicious traditional dishes. Not only was the food an amazing treat, but the learning experience was one I’ll never forget!

Don't delay, this is the way to see the real Egypt - Where to start! From the moment of first meeting Shorouk, we felt like we were being welcomed by a family member. What followed was a truly unforgettable experience. Not only did we get to prepare, cook and eat amazing food, we got to explore Egypt through food and the history and importance of it. We were a part of an eclectic group of like minded people from very different parts of the world and at the end of the night we all considered ourselves as friends. This only happened because of the mastery of Ahmed and Shorouk. This is an experience not to be missed!

Authentic Egyptian Experience - In the heart of Cairo, you will meet Ahmed, his wife Shorouk and their two daughters Karma and Maria. Forget about tourist cooking classes. This experience is an immersion in authentic Egyptian culture. A real moment of sharing with a wonderful family, from the preparation of some ingredients, to the hearty dinner. Ahmed will tell you about Egypt but also about his passion for Italy, from the songs of Jovanotti or Tiziano Ferro to the films with Favino up to Vita è Bella by Benigni. And in addition to having a nice evening in the company (we spent Christmas Eve) you will give support to their family thanks to the sustained financial contribution. Good life Ahmed. We hope to see you again, in Egypt or Italy. Inshallah

Must do for any foodie! A real gem! - Fantastic night not just learning about food and cooking the Egyptian way but being allowed to become part of Ahmed’s wonderful family. Ahmed and his family were warm, welcoming and eager to immerse us in their way of life. We went as a family and my children aged 13 and 9 had a great time too. The food was delicious and we had a memorable experience! Thank you Ahmed! Highly recommended!

Delicious and amazing night over dinner - This is not just a cooking class, it is lesson in history, tradition, and among all else friendship and human dignity. Ahmed and Shorouk have shown incredible hospitality during the short time span, and I cannot thank them enough for the experience. Now onto the dishes. Not everything was made from scratch since it would take too much time, but the in my opinion the essentials were there from a vegetarian perspective: fava beans falafel & molokhia soup. There is much history involved with molokhia that is has to be experienced first hand here in Egypt. WE also had homemade koshary and feteer, but that was already made before the class. For the meat lovers we had hawashi and kofta (made ourselves), and for the desert rice pudding. We were also served strong drink made from hibiscus (and lots of sugar). One important thing to take away from this class is measuring by feeling: no need for fancy devices, use your heart and the delicious flavours will follow! In short, dishes on the menu were: hawashi, kofta, koshary, molokhai, falafel, feteer and rice pudding. Quite a lot for one dinner! Highly recommended!
