- Hakone Ropeway - The Hakone Ropeway is a primary mode of transportation in the Hakone region. The ropeway travels through Owakudani, offering sweeping views of the volcanic terrain. On clear days, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Mount Fuji from both Owakudani and the ropeway.
As you ride, you’ll see the base of the Owakudani valley, along with sulfuric smoke rising from it. The barren mountainside, shrouded in smoke, creates a dramatic scene that reflects the area’s former name: Hell Valley. Once you exit the cable car, you’ll be welcomed by the distinctive scent of sulfur and see steam ascending into the sky.
