- Fuji Shibazakura Festival - Established in 2008, the Fuji Shibazakura Festival takes place at Motosuko Resort during the blooming season of the shibazakura plants. While there are many renowned locations across Japan to view these blossoms, Motosuko Resort uniquely offers a view of both shibazakura and Mt. Fuji. With approximately 500,000 vibrant shibazakura plants, it boasts the largest single area of these flowers in the greater Tokyo region. The pink, red, white, and purple blossoms spread like a carpet, creating a stunning landscape for visitors to enjoy.
- Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba (Traditional Japanese Village) - Located in Fujikawaguchiko Town, this traditional Japanese village is often regarded as the most beautiful in Japan, offering a picturesque view with Mt. Fuji as a backdrop. After being destroyed by a landslide during a typhoon in 1966, it was rebuilt and reopened in 2006 as an open-air museum and traditional craft village.
Visitors can wander through this historic village and admire the unique “armor structure” houses, designed by the villagers to withstand harsh winter snow. The thatched roofs provide warmth in winter and coolness in summer, showcasing their livable qualities.
From the viewing point, one can gaze at Mount Fuji in the distance, where the mountain peak and the rooftops create a harmonious and beautiful scene.
- Lake Kawaguchiko - As the most popular of the Fuji Five Lakes, Lake Kawaguchi is celebrated for its breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Fuji from its shores. It features the longest shoreline among the Fuji Five Lakes. On a clear, calm day, the lake offers a perfect mirror image of Mount Fuji reflected in its waters.
In 2013, Lake Kawaguchi was recognized as part of the World Heritage List under the Fujisan Cultural Site.
- Oishi Park - Oishi Park is a scenic area where visitors can enjoy a magnificent view of flowers, Lake Kawaguchi, and the majestic Mt. Fuji simultaneously. The lakeside promenade is adorned with various flowers that bloom seasonally. On the park’s west side, the “350-meter-long Flowers Road” presents a vibrant array of colorful blooms throughout the year. At the end of Flowers Road, Kochia (summer cypress) thrives from summer to autumn, making it a favored spot for photography.
The park features 90 different types of seasonal flowers, ensuring a variety of blooms are always on display. As visitors stroll along the flower-lined promenade with Mt. Fuji in view, a sense of tranquility is sure to be felt.
- Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center - The second floor of the Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center offers a unique vantage point for capturing the stunning image of the red torii harmonizing with Mount Fuji.
- Chureito Pagoda - Situated in Arakurayama Sengen Park, the Chureito Pagoda is a must-visit attraction. The park is famous for its breathtaking panoramic views of the Chureito Pagoda, Mt. Fuji, and Fujiyoshida City at the mountain’s base.
To reach the Chureito Pagoda and observation deck, visitors must ascend 398 steps. The view from the top is considered one of Japan’s finest and is listed among the 21 must-visit places for photographers worldwide.
While the cherry blossom season is perfect for capturing the iconic image of Mt. Fuji framed by cherry blossoms and the five-storied pagoda, the park offers stunning views year-round as the landscape changes with the seasons.
Note: During Japan’s Golden Week (May 1st to 7th), traffic around Mt. Fuji is expected to be heavily congested. The visit to Chureito Pagoda and Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine will be canceled to allocate more time for other attractions.
- Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine - Built in 705, this shrine has served as the guardian deity of Arakura Village for over 1,300 years. It is a sacred site where people seek protection from misfortune, promote household harmony, and pray for safe childbirth and successful child-rearing.
