Incredible experience, great host and good times - It was a truly great time. James was very funny, pushed everyone to be punctual, and clearly worked very hard to make sure we got the best experience. Mt Fuji was gorgeous, we got very lucky to have 100% visibility and it was truly breathtaking.

Thank you Erick, it was... - Thank you Erick, it was fun and memorable experiences, the funny part is that people are more interested in Erick working as tour guy in Japan than the Fuji mountain. 😆

Erik was amazing! One of... - Erik was amazing! One of the best and funniest guides we’ve had in Japan. Despite the weather actively working against him, he was still able to make the day worth it and added many laughs along the way. 10/10 would recommend!

Lucky views - Our guide was great, Kousei, and we got to see Mount Fuji! Kousei was very upbeat and friendly. This would do better as a small group tour, maybe having 2 guides and split the bus in half. With how small the gondolas are, the group gets divided. Also, lunch is at 2:30, the meetup point isn't near any place you could buy breakfast. I took off a star from the overall itinerary, not the guide. Lots of standing in lines, about 8k steps. The places it goes are well selected.

Mt Fuji Hakone tour - The overall experience was good mainly because of the tour guide - Jack. However, we were a little disappointed because the tour did not take the spots for optimal viewing of Mt. Fuji. Overall the tour covered the general Hakone area and had good pit stops for lunch and local ice cream. The Mt. Fuji Shrine and lake Ashi are beautiful but the other spots especially the pirate ship can be passed on. Thanks to Jack again for making the trip as efficient and well organized as possible.

Great host but terrible weather ruined the itinerary. Wouldn't book again without ability to cancel for bad weather. - First off, I want to say that the 2/5 star rating is only that high because of our tour guide Laila. Outside of that, it was a 0 or 1 at best. In an ideal world, I have no doubt this tour would have been a great itinerary filled with beautiful scenery made better by an excellent guide. The harsh reality though is that it was raining, windy, foggy and single digit temperatures despite us touring in late march. At no stage did we have any hope of even glimpsing Mount Fuji, and a number of the activities exposed us to the elements making the bulk of the day an uncomfortable blend of soggy socks, extremely long bus trips and drastic temperature changes. Frankly, had it not been for Laila's amazing efforts to provide a good experience and do the best she could with the poor tools at her disposal, I would be demanding a refund as it was EASILY the worst experience we had on our two week trip. The Hakone Shrine was beautiful, albeit an issue for accessibility with a LOT of (wet and slippery) stairs to get where you need to go. The Hakone Pirate Ship was really cool, but once again no views and very wet and windy with limited indoor seating as it was packed and the main benefit (the outdoor experience) was to be avoided. The package also says "Please note that the ticket for the cruise is not included. It is around 12USD. If you don't take the boat, you can also choose to take our tour bus to the next attraction." but it was not really a choice to take the bus so this is a bit misleading. We got on the Ropeway at Togendai station, but could only see about 20 metres out of the fogged up windows and certainly couldn't see Mount Fuji or anything interesting other than trees. At the top was the Owakudani Valley stop, where we got limited time for lunch and a look at the famous "black eggs" and the hot springs. On a good day this wouldn't have been a long enough stop, but luckily the hot springs were not visible anyway as too much fog, so we just had a bog average lunch in the visitor centre (on the low end of what we ate in Japan, if not the worst thing we ate) and then trapsed through the rain to the bus. The next stop was Lake Yamanaka where it was rainy, windy and about 5 degrees. The entire tour huddled in the family mart until we left for the next stop as it was unbearable for longer than 2 mins outside. The highlight of this trip on this particular day was the last top at Oshino Hakkai, a cute little village where we could buy snowmelt water from Mount Fuji and get stuck into some local street food. We had some delicious wagyu skewers, deep fried cheesy potato sticks, enjoyed the village and then jumped on the 2.5 hour bus ride home. Frankly we could have had a similar experience in Tokyo city or local to that though, so even this only redeemed the trip somewhat. At every single stop there were the same two groups of people that made the bus depart late, and then one of the (ladies if you can call her that) called the host a b***h for pulling her on about consistently delaying the group. Honestly, if I had my time over, the risk of bad weather on this trip made it the only experience I had in the two weeks in Japan that I regret booking - particularly at the price. The risk of bad weather combined with the high price of the trip would make me not recommend it to anyone travelling to Tokyo. Laila our host did a tremendous job considering what was on offer, and was very apologetic about the weather, but the operator should have cancelled the tour and refunded our money and I would go so far as to actively warn people against booking this tour unless they can cancel if it looks like bad weather. I don't know if last minute bookings are possible, but probably the way to go once you know its going to be clear weather as 24 hours earlier would have been perfect but we booked months in advance.
