- Fascinating couple of hours. So much to take in. The only tourist attraction where cobwebs and dodgy decorations add to the enjoyment and understanding of the subject. Recommended.

Visit to Shepton Mallet Prison July 25 - Went on the spur of the moment. Was really interesting and the staff were friendly and informative. I have wanted to go for a while and glad we did.

Great Times - We had a great time wandering round the prison. Could easily get lost & miss various sections - we did end up in the exercise yard a few times! - but think we covered most areas. Interesting to see, at the end, how many times the prison has been used in tv & films.

A great opportunity - I strongly recommend doing a guided tour. Me and my family did a self guided tour and occasionally overheard what the guide was saying; he was very interesting and knowledgeable. However, it had advantages looking at the prison on our own, we could go at our own pace. We had our teenage children with us who were just happy doing their own thing. The prison was very interesting and provoked a heavy feeling in places. The staff were super friendly. I would definitely visit again.

- Just brings it home how awful it would have been inside. It’s a bit shabby but the cost implications must be prohibitive. Definitely a lack of signs in town . I know it’s costly

A bit passed it's best. - Not as good as Shrewsbury prison, but still enjoyed it. It wasn't as interactive, run down and no option of a tour guide on the day. Considering famous people who have stayed there and films filmed there, very little to tell you where within. The staff in the shop were lovely though.
