Transfer from Moshi to Serengeti
Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, guests will be picked up from their hotel around 6:30 am and driven to Serengeti National Park. Upon arrival, they will head to the Serengeti Wildlife Lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, a game drive in the park will be enjoyed. The park spans 12,944 km² of open plains, making it one of the largest in the world. The scenic rocky outcrops, known as Moru kopjes, are located in the eastern part of the park and are occasionally home to lounging cats. The park is home to vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and other antelopes. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Serengeti camp.
Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti
Mount Kilimanjaro - The entire day will be dedicated to exploring this renowned destination. After breakfast, guests will embark on a game viewing drive along the Sogore River Circuit, which loops into the plains south of the Seronera River, offering potential sightings of lions, Thomson gazelles, topis, ostriches, and cheetahs. The Visitor Centre near the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and public campsites is worth visiting after the morning game drive. This well-designed center features interesting wildlife displays and a gift shop with information leaflets and maps of the area. The center also has a shop for cold drinks and snacks, a picnic area, and an information trail around a nearby kopje. A relaxed picnic lunch will be enjoyed at the center under the shade of giant acacia trees. In the afternoon, the Kopjes Circuit will be followed, which goes anti-clockwise around the Maasai Kopjes, often attracting lions and large cobras. Kopjes are weathered granite outcrops scattered across the plains, most of which are miniature ecosystems providing shade and drinking water in pools left in the rock after the rains. This makes the kopjes excellent for spotting wildlife during the dry seasons, including lions waiting for animals coming to drink. Dinner and overnight stay will be in the Seronera area.
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater: Travel Time: 4 hours {Distance: 145 km}
Mount Kilimanjaro - An early morning game drive from 6:30 am to 9:30 am offers the best chance to witness early morning kills by the big five. After exploring the park in the early morning, guests will return for the main breakfast and then depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. A stopover at Olduvai Gorge will be made, which boasts a history dating back to the dawn of time. It was here that anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man,’ both significant links in the chain of human evolution. Lunch will be served at Olduvai Gorge, accompanied by a lecture on the theory of evolution. Afterwards, the journey continues to Ngorongoro, arriving in the late afternoon, where guests will spend the next few hours on the rim of the crater. Dinner and overnight stay will be in the Seronera area, according to the standard and type of accommodation option requested.
Ngorongoro Crater to Moshi
Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, guests will descend over 600 meters into the crater for a half-day safari tour to view wildlife. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, Ngorongoro National Park hosts a vast variety of animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another major attraction of this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos, and other water birds can usually be seen here. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in the crater, followed by another afternoon game drive until 5:30 pm, when guests will ascend from the crater and proceed to Moshi, arriving in the early evening for a drop-off at their hotel or back to the airport if their flight is on the same day.
