- Shanghai Zoo (Shanghai Dongwu Yuan) - The tour guide will meet the group at the hotel at 9:00 a.m. and then transfer to Shanghai Zoo to begin the highlight tour. Shanghai Zoo is a large, state-level zoo featuring over 400 animal species, including giant pandas, golden monkeys, South China tigers, Manchurian tigers, Yangtze alligators, and elks. It also houses animals from around the world, such as giraffes, kangaroos, penguins, hippopotamuses, and sea lions. Visitors will explore the giant panda area, which is fan-shaped and includes both an indoor exhibition and an outdoor playground, allowing them to observe the pandas’ activities and learn about animal facts.
Next, the group will transfer to the Bund for a cruise to enjoy the views of modern skyscrapers along the Huangpu River.
- Huangpu River - The Huangpu River separates two iconic yet distinct Shanghai sights: the modern skyscrapers of the Pudong area and 26 diverse buildings of various architectural styles on the west side. A one-hour cruise along the Huangpu River will offer beautiful views of both sides, including the Bund, the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center, and Jin Mao Tower.
Following this, the group will head to Shanghai Old City to enjoy traditional dim-sum Xiaolongbao for lunch. In the afternoon, they will stroll along Yuyuan Old Street and visit Yu Garden.
- Yuyuan Old Street - Historically known as Miaoqian Dajie, Shanghai Old Street is a historic business street that combines tourist attractions, shops, entertainment, and cultural exhibits. Its unique social appeal and rich commercial history stem from being home to the city’s earliest bank, gold shop, jeweler’s store, wine shop, and tea house. Exploring the old alleys of Shanghai offers a wonderful opportunity to discover the city’s traditional culture and experience authentic Shanghainese life.
- Yu Garden (Yuyuan) - Originally a private garden of the Pan family during the Ming Dynasty, Yu Garden was the largest and most prestigious of its time in Shanghai. Despite its small size, it encompasses all the elements of a classical Chinese garden, including pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds, and cloisters, each with unique features. The garden’s exquisite layout, stunning scenery, and artistic architectural style make it a highlight of Shanghai. Visitors can walk across the Zigzag Nine Bend Bridge, which is believed to bring good luck due to the auspicious symbolism of the number nine. The bridge leads to the Mid-Lake Pavilion Teahouse, the oldest teahouse in Shanghai.
The tour will then proceed to the Lujiazui Ring Bridge, an excellent spot for photographing skyscrapers, and visit the Shanghai Tower.
-
Shanghai Tower - As a new landmark, Shanghai Tower is the tallest building in Shanghai, standing at 632 meters. The 118th floor features the world’s highest indoor observation deck, known as the ‘Top of Shanghai Observatory.’ Visitors are encouraged to explore the exhibition hall on floor B1 before taking the express elevator to the 118th floor, which takes only 55 seconds at a speed of 18 meters per second. From here, guests can enjoy a panoramic view of Shanghai and admire the scenery on both sides of the Huangpu River from the 119th floor. The tour includes a visit to Duoyun Books, the highest bookstore in China.
‘Duoyun Books’ flagship store is situated on the 52nd floor of the Shanghai Tower, 239 meters above ground. Overlooking Shanghai, visitors can almost touch the blue sky and white clouds while enjoying a ‘garden in the sky.’ The space, designed like a Chinese landscape, features mountain-shaped bookshelves and is divided into seven areas, including sections for books, exhibitions, cultural events, and leisure.
Finally, the group will enjoy a comfortable transfer back to the hotel, wrapping up their memories and saying goodbye at the hotel.
