- Zhujiajiao Ancient Town - The tour guide will greet visitors at the airport exit at 08:30 a.m. or upon arrival. From there, guests will be transferred to Zhujiajiao to begin the Shanghai highlight tour. Known as the ‘Venice of Shanghai,’ Zhujiajiao is the most well-preserved of the four ancient water towns in the Shanghai region. With a history spanning over 1,700 years, it features charming canals, narrow alleys, scenic bridges, and historic buildings, many from the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Exploring Zhujiajiao is best done on foot and by boat. Guests will enjoy a leisurely boat tour through 1,700 years of history in this enchanting water town. The tour includes visits to landmarks such as Kezhi Garden, the Qing-period post office, the City God Temple, and Yuanjin Temple. The Zhujiajiao post office is the oldest in eastern China and the only well-preserved Qing dynasty post office in the region.
At noon, guests will savor a local specialty for lunch. Afterward, the tour returns to downtown Shanghai to visit several iconic attractions.
- Xintiandi - Xintiandi is a tourist destination that maintains the historical and cultural essence of Shanghai while blending Chinese and Western cultures. It is divided into northern and southern sections, with the south featuring modern architecture and the north showcasing Shikumen old buildings. This area, a mix of Shikumen and modern styles, has become a trendy pedestrian street in the city center, representing the popular and relaxed lifestyle of the city’s new generation. Outdoor cafés, bars, and romantic restaurants are abundant. Once the site of the first congress of the Communist Party, it is now filled with shopping and entertainment venues.
- Shikumen Museum, Shanghai - This museum is housed in an old Shikumen building from the 1920s that has been preserved and renovated. It is modeled after a typical household from the 1920s, featuring seven main exhibition rooms: the guest room, study room, old people’s room, master room, daughter room, pavilion room, and oven room. The museum tells the story of a Shikumen family, showcasing the unique architectural culture of Shanghai and recreating the living space and lifestyle of Shanghai residents from that era.
Next, guests will be transferred to the Bund to view 26 buildings of various architectural styles.
- The Bund - The Bund is a renowned waterfront on the west bank of the Huangpu River and is considered a symbol of Shanghai. It beautifully showcases Shanghai’s allure as a bustling metropolis with a rich history and a promising future, making it a must-see attraction. Visitors will see 26 buildings of different architectural styles at the Bund, including the Peace Hotel (Heping Fandian), Shanghai Customs House, and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank. Skyscrapers across the Huangpu River can also be admired.
The tour then proceeds to Pudong New Area to visit Shanghai Tower.
- Pudong New Area - As a vibrant district, Pudong offers visitors modern attractions, businesses, skyscrapers, and shopping malls, all featuring the latest in entertainment, technology, and fashion. Guests can walk along the Lujiazui Ring Bridge, an excellent spot for photographing skyscrapers.
- Shanghai Tower - This new Shanghai landmark is the tallest building in the city, standing at 632 meters. The 118th floor houses the world’s highest indoor observation deck, known as the ‘Top of Shanghai Observatory.’ Visitors are encouraged to explore the exhibition hall on floor B1 before taking the express elevator to the 118th floor in just 55 seconds, with speeds reaching 18 meters per second. From here, guests can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Shanghai and admire the scenery on both sides of the Huangpu River. If the weather permits, a spectacular sunset may be visible.
Finally, guests will enjoy a comfortable transfer back to the airport to catch their flight, wrapping up their memories and bidding farewell.
