- Juma Mosque - On the journey from Baku to Gabala, visitors can explore the Juma Mosque in Shamakhi, also known as the Friday Mosque, a popular tourist destination. Unlike many mosques, the Juma Mosque in Shamakhi welcomes non-Muslim visitors. Guests are required to remove their shoes upon entry, but walking barefoot is comfortable due to the thick carpets covering the floor. Additionally, women must cover their heads to enter, and complimentary head coverings are provided at the entrance, which should be returned upon exit.
- Yeddi Gumbaz Mausoleum - Situated at the base of Gulistan Fortress is the Yeddi Gumbaz Mausoleum, or “Seven Domes.” This is the name given to the Shamakhi tomb of the Shirvan Dynasty rulers. It is the resting place of notable Shirvan Dynasty figures. The monument’s name is derived from the number of gravestones in the crypt. Today, these gravestones resemble partially destroyed stone domes emerging from the ground in a deserted graveyard, creating a slightly mysterious atmosphere in the area.
- Diri Baba Mausoleum - The Diri Baba Mausoleum is located on a cliff in a square. This two-story building features a hall on the first floor, which leads to an octagonal cupola through a small vestibule. Stairs carved into the cliff lead to the second-floor hall. The spherical cupola with a pointed top is adorned with plant motifs. The architecture of the Diri Baba Mausoleum blends harmoniously with its picturesque surroundings, set against a backdrop of rocks and lush trees. This mausoleum is a masterpiece of the Shirvan architectural school and a stunning creation by ancient artisans. The monument is under government protection.
- Lahich - The next destination is the village of Lahij, accessible through the forests and winding roads of the Caucasus Mountains. Visitors will have the chance to witness the breathtaking natural canyon and stop at the Zernava suspension bridge. Lahij’s unique architectural style is sure to captivate with its two-story houses and cobbled streets along the Girdiman River. Lahij is a true village of craftsmen and artisans who have preserved their traditional techniques for working with non-ferrous metals like copper and bronze. The exquisite copper works of Lahij artisans were showcased at the World Exhibition in Vienna in 1873 (Weltausstellung 1873). In Lahij, each neighborhood boasts its own distinctive mosque, enhancing the village’s charm for visitors.
