“Amazing personalized tour - We were fortunate enough to have Phil V. as our tour guide. He knows everything about Alaskan history, hiking, restaurants, wildlife, and more. We have never had a better guide. It was luck that put us together for 3 1/2 days. We enjoyed every minute with him. He took all the stress out of our first trip to Alaska.” - Reviewed on 2024-08-10
Wildlife and Wilderness: A Dance with Nature
The stormy weather sets the stage for an intimate encounter with Alaska’s wildlife. At the Potter Marsh Bird Sanctuary, the heavy cloud cover and precipitation create a mystical setting, perfect for birdwatching. The marsh, with its wooden boardwalks winding through watery openings, offers a glimpse into the lives of migratory birds that thrive in these conditions. The high humidity and limited visibility add an element of mystery, as you peer through binoculars to spot eagle nests and other wildlife.
Continuing the journey, the Anchorage to Seward Cruise takes you to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, where the stormy backdrop highlights the resilience of the animals. Here, you can witness the majesty of moose, bears, and other native species, all thriving despite the harsh conditions. The center’s commitment to preserving Alaska’s wildlife is evident, and the experience is both humbling and inspiring.
“Great way to see Alaska to Seward. - We were picked up at 9:00am by our driver Bill. He had a big van/bus and it was just us. Bill was friendly and knowledgeable. An Ohio transplant that’s been in Alaska 28 years. His love of the state and the job shined through. We drove through various areas of Anchorage and made several stops for pictures. We made our way to the Alyeska Ski resort and rode the Tram to the top. It was great. We had lunch up there and then we were on the road again. We stopped at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and saw our first Moose! Several bears and other native wildlife. It was an enjoyable stop. The Seward highway is gorgeous. All along the water with endless mountains and several glaciers. We took a quick drive through the two downtown areas of Seward before being dropped off at our hotel.” - Reviewed on 2023-08-07
Glacial Majesty: A Testament to Time
No journey through Seward is complete without a visit to the Exit Glacier, a testament to the power and beauty of nature. As the storm rages on, the glacier stands as a silent witness to the passage of time, its icy expanse a stark contrast to the turbulent weather. The Anchorage to Seward Cruise provides an opportunity to explore this natural wonder, offering a glimpse into the effects of climate change on Alaska’s glaciers.
The journey concludes at the Alaska SeaLife Center, where the stormy seas of Resurrection Bay serve as a reminder of the ocean’s might. Here, you can learn about the marine ecosystem and the efforts to rehabilitate and conserve Alaska’s marine life. The center’s dedication to education and conservation is a beacon of hope amidst the storm, a testament to the resilience of both nature and humanity.
“A Great Finish to our Alaskan Vacation - I found Greatland based on TripAdvisor reviews and we were not disappointed!!! The communication from beginning to end was friendly, prompt and thorough. The price was certainly competitive with the cruise excursion options. Bill, our tour guide, was phenomenal!!! Extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We were spontaneous in picking and choosing to see the sites along the way. Bill knew the ones not to miss! We even ended our day in Anchorage with stops at two incredible breweries for late lunch and happy hour simply because it had come up in casual conversation during the course of the day.” - Reviewed on 2019-09-07
