A Journey Through Andalusia’s White Villages

Our adventure began with a delightful traditional Andalusian breakfast. The kids were thrilled to try the locally-produced, homemade bread drizzled with olive oil, tomato sauce, and thinly sliced Iberian ham. I must say, the cafe con leche was a hit with me! It was a perfect start to our day, setting the tone for the cultural immersion that lay ahead.

As we drove through the countryside, the beauty of Southern Spain unfolded before us. The rolling hills and lush landscapes were a stark contrast to the bustling city of Seville. I encouraged the kids to take in the scenery, and we played a game of spotting different animals along the way. It was a peaceful drive, and our guide, Anja, shared fascinating stories about the region’s history, keeping us all engaged.

Our first stop was the picturesque village of Zahara de la Sierra. The whitewashed buildings and Moorish influences were captivating. We decided to take the optional trek to the Castle of Zahara de la Sierra. I made sure the kids were wearing sturdy shoes, as Anja had advised. The climb was challenging, but Anja’s encouragement and the promise of breathtaking views kept us going. Discovering Setenil de las Bodegas

It was a perfect family meal, and we left feeling satisfied and ready for more exploration.

The Majestic Ronda

Our final destination was the majestic town of Ronda. The vibrant atmosphere and stunning views from Alameda de Tajo were a highlight of our trip. We strolled through the town, taking in the sights and sounds. The kids were excited to find more shops and souvenirs, and we took the opportunity to pick up a few mementos.

Ronda’s restaurants, some built within the rocks, added to the town’s allure. We took a moment to relax and enjoy the surroundings, appreciating the blend of history and modernity. Anja’s insights into the town’s past enriched our experience, and we felt a deeper connection to the region.

As our day came to an end, we made sure to use the facilities before the long drive back to Seville. Anja’s thoughtful guidance throughout the tour ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for our family. Her passion for Andalusia was infectious, and we left with a newfound appreciation for the white villages of Zahara, Setenil, and Ronda.
