Upon reaching the stunning Tapir Mountain Reserve, helmets are donned for a gentle jungle hike to the cave entrance, which takes about 30 minutes. The hike includes three stream crossings, ranging from knee to waist height, with a rope assisting the first crossing, along with opportunities to identify plants and learn about their herbal uses.

At the cave’s entrance, participants swim across a small spring-fed pool for 10-15 seconds, entering the dark underworld of the cave. This grants access to an extensive underground labyrinth of tunnels, passageways, and chambers, culminating in the ceremonial chamber that houses stoneware, ceramics, and the renowned crystallized skeleton of the “Crystal Maiden.”

There is no traditional rock climbing or crawling involved. Participants will only need to bend for a few seconds to navigate small passageways. The tour is manageable and suitable for all fitness levels.
