Akhtala Monastery - Akhtala is a 10th-century Armenian Apostolic Church monastery, renowned for its stunning frescoes. The fortress was crucial in defending the north-western areas of Armenia (Gugark) and is one of the best-preserved in modern Armenia.

To the north, the Haghartsin Monastery is a complex of stone churches, while to the east, the Goshavank Monastery is celebrated for its detailed khachkars, or carved stones.
