Oedolgae - Oedolgae marks the beginning of Jeju Olle Trail Course 7 and is a striking stone pillar that rises 20 meters from the sea. Standing solitary in the water, it earned the name ‘Oedolgae’. It is also known as ‘General Stone’ and ‘Grandma Rock’. Legend has it that General Choi Yeong adorned this rock to resemble a general during a battle against the Yuan Dynasty, causing the enemy to self-destruct. For the story behind the name ‘Grandma Rock’, refer to the legend below. Beyond the visible rocks, one can also witness the life of Jeju residents awaiting the return of seafarers. These stone pillars are believed to have formed during a volcanic eruption. Scientifically, a chimney-shaped stone pillar, where surrounding rocks are eroded by waves leaving only the strong rocks, is termed a sea stack. Pine trees naturally grow atop Oedolgae, creating a picturesque scene. Depending on the angle of view, it presents a different appearance, showcasing the beauty of nature.

Jeongbang Waterfall - Jeongbang Falls is one of Jejudo Island’s top three waterfalls, alongside Cheonjiyeon Falls and Cheonjeyeon Falls. It is the only waterfall in Korea where water cascades directly into the sea. The waterfall stands 23 meters high, and its two streams create a thrilling sound and a stunning view as they tumble down the black cliff. The steep cliffs and ancient pine trees surrounding the falls add to the picturesque scenery, which has been recognized as one of the Ten Scenic Sights of Yeongju, known as “Jeongbanghapok.” According to legend, the words ‘Seobulgwacha’ are inscribed on the cliffs of Jeongbang Falls. It is said that a man named Seobul visited the island in search of an elixir plant on the orders of China’s Qin Shu Huangdi long ago. Failing to find the plant, he headed west to return to China but was captivated by Jeongbang Falls, leading him to inscribe “Seobulgwacha” on the cliff. However, these words have yet to be discovered.

Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff - The columnar joints near the coast in the eastern Jungmun Tourist Complex, where waves crash against dark red hexagonal stones forming tall layers, are considered a natural wonder and were designated as Natural Monument No. 443 on December 27, 2004. Standing before the joints, one can witness waves striking the stones and breaking into white bubbles, evoking the poignant tales of stone carvers. The scenery is breathtaking, especially when turbulent waves reach heights of about 20 meters. This location is increasingly popular with tourists who enjoy the stunning views and the refreshing scent of the sea.
-
Yongmeori Coast - The Yongmeori Coast derives its name from its resemblance to a dragon diving into the ocean with its head raised (“Yong” means dragon and “Meori” means head in Korean). Yongmeori is a sandstone bed formed by layers of sand deposited over tens of millions of years. The coast’s mysterious scenery is awe-inspiring. At the base of the coast stands a Hamel Monument, established by the Embassy of the Netherlands and the Korean Foundation on April 1, 1980, to strengthen diplomatic ties between Korea and the Netherlands and to honor the dedication and efforts of Hendrick Hamel.

O’sulloc Tea Museum - The Osulloc Tea Museum, located near the Seogwang tea field in Jeju, is Korea’s first tea museum, opened in 2001 by AMOREPACIFIC to promote tea and Korean traditional tea culture. It is a cultural space that blends Eastern and Western influences, tradition and modernity, and includes a tea museum, a nature-friendly rest area, and a cafe offering a variety of delicious tea-based menus.
-
Yakchunsa Temple - The temple is named after the spring water that flows from spring to fall and the pond with medicinal water that runs year-round. It boasts the largest main hall in the East and gained fame when Daejeokgwangjeon was constructed in 1996 following a large-scale Buddhist ceremony led by Hyein, who became the chief priest in 1981. The 29-meter-tall Daejeokgwangjeon is a concrete structure styled after early Joseon Buddhist architecture, with one underground floor and five above-ground floors. An 18-ton bell with inscriptions and images emphasizing filial piety hangs in front of the main hall. The temple houses the memorial tablets of four Joseon Dynasty royals: King Munjong, Queen Hyeondeok, Prince Yeongchin, and Lady Yi Bangja.
