• Seongsan Ilchulbong - The Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone, a prominent attraction in Jeju, was formed approximately 5,000 years ago due to an underwater volcanic eruption. Besides sunrise viewing, Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone is also a fantastic spot for trekking. The Seongsan-Ojo Trail links two villages by traversing the peak, while the Jijil Trail provides a closer look at the UNESCO-designated geopark and Jeju’s local culture. • Jeongbang Waterfall - Seogwipo, encompassing the entire southern half of Jeju, enjoys abundant sunshine and warm temperatures, drawing tourists year-round. A popular attraction is Jeongbangpokpo Falls, one of Jeju Island’s top three waterfalls. The water cascades 23 meters directly off the cliff into a pool before flowing to the sea. Behind Jeongbangpokpo Falls is the Waljong Art Gallery, dedicated to Korean artist Lee Wal Jong, who settled in Jeju decades ago. The gallery showcases his inspiring artworks, capturing Jeju’s beauty uniquely. Its strategic location and glass-walled second floor offer visitors a stunning sea view.
• Oedolgae - Oedolgae, the starting point of Jeju Olle Trail Course 7, is a stone pillar rising 20 meters from the sea. Standing alone, it is named ‘Oedolgae’ and is also known as ‘General Stone’ and ‘Grandma Rock’. Legend has it that General Choi Yeong decorated this rock like a general during a battle against the Yuan Dynasty, causing the enemy to self-destruct. For the origin of ‘Grandma Rock’, refer to the legend below. The visible rocks and the life of Jeju’s sea people can be observed here. These stone pillars are believed to have formed during a volcanic eruption. A chimney-shaped stone pillar, where surrounding rocks erode by waves leaving only strong rocks, is scientifically termed a sea stack. Pine trees naturally grow atop Oedolgae, creating a picturesque scene.
• Seopjikoji - Located on Jeju’s east coast, Seopjikoji is a stunning coastline adorned with canola flowers in spring, with Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak in the background and the beautiful Sinyang Beach nearby. Visitors can enjoy Jeju’s traditional beauty, including vast canola fields on hills, peacefully grazing Jeju ponies, striking rocky cliffs, and the legendary Seonbawi Rock in the ocean. Seopjikoji’s uniqueness lies in its red volcanic ash, “scoria,” and unusual rock formations visible only at low tide. It has been a filming location for movies and TV dramas like “The Legend of Gingko,” “The Uprising,” “Cheonilya,” and “All In.” The picturesque blue house by the sea from “The Legend of Gingko” was inspired by this site.
• Gwangchigi Beach - Gwangchigi Beach offers one of the most pristine and breathtaking views along Jeju’s coastline. In the distance is Seongsan Sunrise Peak, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site and a gem of Jeju Island. The area features trendy cafes, restaurants, travel accommodations, and family-friendly activities like the Aquaplanet Aquarium. It is also where Olle walking trails 1 and 2 connect.
• Seongeup Folk Village - This entire village, preserving the historical living site of old Jeju, is designated as an Important Folklore Cultural Heritage. Unlike typical folk villages, it remains inhabited. Village residents volunteer as guides, providing visitors with a wealth of information.
