• Meryemana (The Virgin Mary’s House) - The House of the Virgin Mary is located 6 km (3.7 mi) from Ephesus and surrounded by pine and olive trees. It is made of stone and looks very small and humble. Outside the house is a “wishing wall,” which pilgrims have used by tying their intentions on paper or fabric. A nearby water source is also believed to have miraculous healing powers. Several popes visited the shrine after the first visit of the VI. Paul in 1967.
