Ancient City of Ephesus - The first stop today is the Ancient City of Ephesus. This city has been inhabited since the end of the Bronze Age, but its location changed due to the silting of the Cayster River and various rulers. The site visited today is the third location of Ephesus from the 3rd century BC. Upon entering with a guide, visitors will encounter numerous impressive monumental structures in this Greco-Roman city, starting from the Gate of Magnesia. Highlights include the Agoras, such as the Commercial Agora, Roman Baths, Basilica, Odeon (Bouleuterion), Domitian Square with more ruins like the Nike Relief, Gate of Heracles, and the three main colonnaded streets of Ephesus, including Marble Street, Trajan Fountain, Temple of Hadrian, Latrines (ancient public toilets), Terrace Houses (from outside), Library of Celsus, Grand Theatre, Gymnasium, and more.
After completing the tour, the return journey to the hotel or port follows the same route.
Meryemana (The Virgin Mary’s House) - The second stop is The House of Virgin Mary, located on a mountain believed to be where she lived and spent her final years, near the Ancient City of Ephesus, where St. John the Apostle also lived and passed away.
