• Thingvellir National Park - Silfra, the snorkeling site, is located within Thingvellir National Park. As passengers drive through, they have the opportunity to enjoy the stunning natural beauty the park offers.
• Silfra Adventure Vikings - The journey from your Reykjavík accommodation to Silfra takes approximately 45 minutes. Upon meeting your certified guide, you will receive a briefing on the tour and what to expect. Once you arrive, you will gear up, listen to a safety overview, and enter the glacially flooded fissure known as Silfra.

You will spend about 30–40 minutes in the water before exiting and taking a short 5-minute walk back. Afterwards, you can warm up with a well-deserved hot chocolate.

Photos will be taken during the snorkeling experience, typically ranging from 40–100 images, depending on the group size and skill level. These photos will be available for free download a few days later.

For the wetsuit option, simply wear your swimsuit underneath. It is recommended to bring thick (preferably wool) socks to keep your feet warm while snorkeling.

We are the only company offering both wetsuit and drysuit options, allowing members of your group to choose either option while still being in the same group in the water.

• Silfra - Silfra fissure is often regarded as one of the top diving or snorkeling spots globally. This is due to the exceptional in-water visibility provided by the pristine glacier water that has been filtering through lava fields for many decades. The average in-water visibility is over 100m/300ft. Many describe snorkeling in Silfra as feeling like flying due to the clear glacial water. Feeling thirsty along the way? No worries, just take a sip, as the water in Silfra may be purer and better than the top-shelf bottled water you would purchase back home.

Thingvellir National Park, where Silfra is located, is the meeting point of two tectonic plates with a gap of about 6-7km/4 miles between them. Snorkeling in Silfra means you are snorkeling between two tectonic plates.

Snorkeling in Silfra fissure is an exceptional experience bestowed by nature. Found in Thingvellir on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, Silfra is a vast ‘split’ in the land resulting from the separation of two tectonic plates.

Opting for the wetsuit option advantages you with the ability to dive deep and gain a distinctive view of both underwater and above the water. This choice is a favourite among scuba divers lacking necessary scuba diving certifications. The drysuit, however, might be a better fit for those not so comfortable with swimming.

Prior exposure to snorkeling/ diving is beneficial for diving deep, though not compulsory. The drysuit option can be reserved for others in your group or yourself on a separate listing for the same tour.

Our groups always consist of a maximum of 6 people per guide, ensuring a more intimate and personalized experience. If your group comprises 7 or more, you might need to prepare your equipment together but would be partitioned during the water activity.

• All participants must know how to swim and be comfortable in water
• All participants must be able to communicate in English
• Bring a swimsuit and a towel
• Minimum age is 12 years, please reach out regarding younger participants & Participants over the age of 65 need to get a physicians approval
• Be at minimum 150cm (4’9) tall / maximum 200cm (6’7) tall, and be at minimum 50kg (99 lbs) / maximum 120kg (264 lbs)
• Don’t wear glasses, instead bring contact lenses or your own prescription mask (if you have one)
• Recommended to bring a change of clothes (the drysuit has a very small chance of leaking)
• Please dress according to weather - no heal or jeans
• All participants heights, weights and age must be provided to local operator. If you do not provide at time of booking, please contact supplier immediately after booking to provide this information
• Please note that that dry suits can sometimes feel quite tight and constricting, especially around the neck and wrists
• We recommend wearing long thermal underwear and thick wool socks a a base layer under the drysuit
• All participants will need to fill out a medical form before participating in the tour. Please find a link to the medical statement on your ticket voucher right after booking the experience to be sure if you qualify.
• Note: Each guide can assist one group of up to six participants at a time. Up to three different groups can be present during this activity.
