Thingvellir (Thingvellir) is a historic site and national park in Iceland, east of Reykjavík. It’s known for the Alþing (Althing), the site of Iceland’s parliament from the 10th to 18th centuries. On the site are the Þingvellir Church and the ruins of old stone shelters. The park sits in a rift valley caused by the separation of 2 tectonic plates, with rocky cliffs and fissures like the huge Almannagjá fault.

We’ve planned additional stops so you can witness eggs being cooked in a thermal spring, savour homemade ice cream from a ranch where the cattle can be viewed, interact with friendly horses, and enjoy a bowl of tomato soup inside an actual tomato greenhouse, provided the trip is booked with a lead time of two weeks or more, as slots generally tend to fill up afterwards.
The final, yet significant, halt is at the stunning Kerið, a volcanic crater that’s approximately 6500 years old, astonishingly providing a habitat for wild trout in its pond.
