- Daymaniyat Islands Nature Reserve - The Daymaniyat Islands, a UNESCO-listed marine nature reserve, consist of nine uninhabited islands situated 16–20 km off Muscat’s coast. Renowned for their pristine waters, white sandy beaches, and vibrant coral reefs, they rank among Oman’s premier snorkeling and diving spots. The reefs are home to diverse marine life, including reef sharks, rays, colorful tropical fish, and endangered green and hawksbill turtles. These islands also provide nesting sites for migratory seabirds. To protect nesting turtles, beach landings are restricted from May to October, but snorkeling and diving are allowed throughout the year. With depths ranging from 20–25 meters, the area offers excellent visibility for underwater photography and marine exploration. Whether a nature enthusiast, diver, or casual snorkeler, the Daymaniyat Islands offer a stunning eco-adventure in one of Oman’s most biologically diverse protected regions.
