A Dive into the Deep Blue

As a marine biologist, the ocean has always been my sanctuary, a place where I find both peace and exhilaration. My recent trip to Second Sharm Al Shiekh for the Open Water Diver Course was no exception. The anticipation of exploring the underwater world through this course was palpable, and I was eager to dive into the experience.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the warm, azure waters of the Red Sea, a sight that never fails to take my breath away. The course was held at the Reef Oasis Blue Bay Resort, a place renowned for its diving facilities. The instructors, including the highly recommended Stefano Machi, were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about diving. The course began with five confined water dives in a heated pool, where we learned essential scuba skills. The real excitement began with the open water dives. The first dive took place at a site known as “The Temple,” a name that perfectly encapsulates the awe-inspiring beauty of the location. As I descended into the depths, I was enveloped by a world of vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life. It was a surreal experience, one that reminded me of why I fell in love with the ocean in the first place.

Each dive was a new adventure, offering a unique glimpse into the underwater ecosystem. The instructors, including Khaleb, were attentive and supportive, guiding us through each dive with precision and care. Their expertise was evident, and I felt confident knowing that I was in capable hands.

The course also offered the opportunity to capture the magic of our dives through photos and footage, a wonderful way to relive the experience and share it with others. Although this was an additional cost, it was well worth it to have a visual record of such an unforgettable journey.

Completing the Open Water Diver Course was a significant milestone in my diving journey. It not only equipped me with the skills and confidence to dive independently but also deepened my appreciation for the underwater world. The certification I earned is recognized worldwide, opening up a world of possibilities for future dive adventures.
