Didn’t take any fish home. Picked wrong time of year. Thought rates where a little high for catch and release. Captain and boat very nice
My interest was ling cod fishing, which had open season, not rockfish fishing, which did not. But unlike all previous trips with ASF, we used 2 inch perch pogie bait on my line, which were extremely attractive to rockfish, but not to kings, which were only caught on sanddabs on this trip. So every time I put a line down, it caught a rockfish which had to be dealt with, instead of spending time fishing for lings. I asked about desiring to fish with sanddabs, but captain kept me on pogies.
Very helpful mate. Knowledgeable and effective captain. Good gear.
Captain Len is awesome. I was looking for tips on improving my trip-catch ratio and he delivered. Yes we caught some very nice fish but for me the learning was the reward.
Overall this was a great day. I did expect to get into more fish then we did, I think the captain expected to also. I came home with a 8 to 9 pound King, my buddy got to reel in several but no keeper. thanks, and we'll see you again.
It's hard to not be thrilled when as soon as Nick got a line down, we had fish on. haha. I think we got our limit (1 per person) in 25 minutes. I'm already planning a trip with some other dads to come back out really soon. Even if the weather and fishing weren't as good, Nick did a great job and we really enjoyed his company. I'm setting a reminder to go on Yelp and tell everyone how great All Star fishing is
very enjoyable day unfortunately second trip with no fish going home but thats fishing
Had a great time and would do it again. Great boat and captain.
Our guide worked very hard to find fish and get them to strike. He also was helpful in teaching us newbies about the nuances of coho fishing. The boat was very nice too.
I have been on a lot of charter's over the year's. All Star Charter's is by far the best. Captain Nick and his deck boss Gretchen we're extremely helpful to the clients that we're inexperienced providing the necessary instructions to be successful in landing their salmon. I loved Gretchen's passion for fishing. I highly recommend All Star Charter's.
Trip was good but fish didn't cooperate
The captain was very nice, the weather was beautiful and it overall was an enjoy experience. If only the fish would have cooperated.
Gary it was really fun to meet you. You were pleasant and professional; obviously knew a great deal about fishing, and took good care of us. This was our first fishing experience in the great state of Washington, and we were surprised how intense the regulatory environment is here as opposed to California, where we have fished for many years. It was disappointing to discover we had to let go of some really nice fish. We were also hoping we would be able to set our own lines and down riggers and reel in, but appreciate the challenge that sort of flexibility presents to you when you are dealing with the public. It did however make for long periods of time when we were just sitting, waiting for our turn. We will be pleased to recommend your service to anyone new to the sport of fishing, but think experienced fishermen would probably like a more hands on experience. Thanks again, Alice
The trip and captain were very good and appreciate efforts to find fish. Disappointed that we did not catch any fish we were able to keep.
Capt Len our Captain was excellent he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend this company its good equipment and a top Captain make for a great fishing trip.
Captain Len was great , the fishing was a little slow , mostly smalls and wilds(you can only keep hatchery fish in this fishery), 5 or 6 Dogfish,We all caught keepers though, lots of Coho just a couple Chinook, we stayed out a little longer than most other boats to get the last couple of fish, Len was knowledgeable and had great conversations , They are Cabelas Pro Staff Guides , it shows , will book again when back in the area !
Very professional and knowledgable friendly captain made this a fantastic day, If you like to fish I highly recommend All Star Charters.
We had a good time fishing with Captain Len out of Seattle for Salmon. The weather was perfect and it was a beautiful morning. Capt. Len was very friendly and professional and even had hot coffee for us. We had about a 15 min ride to the fishing area and Len explained our strategy. We started and soon were getting bites. We caught a few kings (release) and then started catching cohos. Myself and my family are experienced anglers and Len showed us how and let us set up the baits and downriggers. He narrowed down the depth they were biting and we got bites almost every pass over the "hot" zone. The only reason I did not rate 5 stars is this: Please be aware that if you reach your limit you HAVE to stop fishing by law. We were having a great time and the next thing I knew the Capt. said we were done fishing. It wasn't even 2 hours yet. This wasn't pointed out to us or I would have surely told him we would release fish when we were one away from limit and enjoy the EXPERIENCE. We charted a 6 hour trip. To be fair, Capt Len adjusted our bill and and in all other ways was an excellent captain. I would recomend them but make sure you discuss your limit/fishing before you go.
