Tasting - Top. The straw building, a breathtaking view, the passionate team, live wines ... both technical and affordable, to fully understand natural wines and biodynamics.

Beautiful experience we recommend - We were very well received for visit and tasting, nice experience. The charcuterie board, certainly a little expensive, was well stocked: all the components of this board were presented to us. We bought bottles of “quetsches then”, their creation, very satisfied: if you follow their recommendations you should not have an explosive situation at the opening 😂 at least for us no problem. This is a great experience we recommend

Great discovery - A smiling and friendly welcome! A small winery which has a beautiful history, obviously the visit is therefore quick, but nevertheless interesting.
A beautiful tasting room.
We were lucky enough to have good weather allowing us to do our tasting outside.
The wines are good, the Pinot Noir is in my opinion too bland (a matter of taste), I really like the Crémant Blanc de Noirs and the Hahnenberg Riesling.
It’s a shame that at the end of the tasting no one will be present to guide you in your potential purchases.
We also had a mixed platter to accompany the tasting: cheese, cold meats and bread, it was perfect.
Thanks to the team for their kindness, we had a pleasant time.

A Very Nice Tour - We thoroughly enjoyed the tour provided to us. I did not recall the name of the fellow who gave us the tour but he did a great job. We enjoyed both the red and white winesoffered, and even bought a bottle to enjoy the next evening in our hotel room.

Original - Despite a team overwhelmed with work, has shown itself available and listening to our desires.
Wines with amazing and very original tastes.
A caring and generous manager.
If you make a crochet by Sherwiller, this is a must-see step.

Beautiful place, but doubts about the techniques used - The place is beautiful and we were pleasantly welcomed. However, I was uncomfortable because successive sellers placed a lot of emphasis on the "biodynamic" character of the wines. I understood that this is a strong commercial argument for this brand. However, it is, according to my understanding, a doctrine without a generally accepted scientific basis, inspired by very conservative movements of the first half of the previous century. I asked a few questions to clarify the techniques used: the sellers notably mentioned the cycles of the moon, without being able to tell me more.

Magic is not at all there - Mixed feeling during the visit of this winemaker:
- reservation taken for tasting on the internet: the reservation conditions are simple, good, efficient.
– the winemaker is recommended for his biodynamic approaches, his quality wines, his exceptional Welcoming.
– We arrive on time, we follow a gentleman who has the wrong door and has been brutally sent back to another front door. 1st surprise: there are several entrances to this winemaker.
We enter directly through the cellar, and wait for a pick-up of our appointment.
- we are placed in the middle of barrels and wait for the tasting to start.
– In the meantime, many people come and go to pick up packages of wine or relay packages, some are shouted at, because the door of the cellar has remained open. 2nd surprise: how the customer should know that the cellar cannot afford to lose 1 degree of temperature!!
- starts our tasting of 5 wines + 1 wine
Complementary which does more experimentation with a mixture of quetsches
– 3rd surprise: indeed everything we taste has nothing to do with what our usual gueberschwiller winemaker produces: each wine has its own character and no correspondence of notes is made with wines made in the traditional way. I am rather pleasantly surprised, but then you have to remember the notes you have smelled, and that will allow to pair your wine with this or that dish. This is all very destabilizing.
I am also surprised by the bottling (4th surprise): a screw cap (instead of the traditional cork cap), identical labelling for all bottles, black with barely legible writing: 1 nightmare to find a wine from the range in your wine cellar.
The explanations for each of the wines are well described by our hostess.
On the other hand, as regards organic farming and biodynamics, we will learn almost nothing and the mystery will remain. Idem no explanation on the bottling choices.
-the visit is limited to the cellar of a few barrels transferred by a retired winemaker, and aluminum tanks. No vine visit.
- we will have quickly understood that the organization of a wedding monopolized the tasting room and all the staff that goes with it....
It would have been more appropriate to suggest another date for the tasting.
– finally, when you buy a case of wine at the end of your tasting, I find it petty to charge for the tasting service of a few glass bottoms . . . (but that is only me)
– the achillee website is poor and deserves to be enriched.
-Conclusion:
So Yeah, a mixed opinion of Achillee. I would have to visit another winemaker involved in biodynamics, to get an idea about this sector.
As you can see, the consumer needs to have easily identifiable landmarks (variety, terroir...) to choose a wine. I doubt that we can retain a customer by regularly questioning all his benchmarks and principles.
Right now, I wouldn't recommend choosing Achillee. I give an average rating only to salute the quality of the products we have tasted.
