A fun morning visit - I wanted to check the museum out as it looked quite impressive in photos. It was a very enjoyable, interesting experience that would be excellent for anyone remotely interested in trains. It seems to be very popular among school children too, so it's certainly family friendly. A lot of care and attention has gone into the museum and the staff are very friendly too. There's a lot to see. An express visit might take you 1-2 hours, but you could easily spend longer here. Very accessible and many toilets dotted around.

Great experience - Great experience, we are not necessarily a fan of trains but it was super fun to do! It was surprising when you don’t know by train!

Magical journey - Journey through the history of the railway with a beautiful collection of machines, trains, locomotives, some beautiful archives and uniforms of times of controllers. A model of Cork-Guillemins from the Spanish Santiago Calatrava really pleased me as a Corker.

To discover absolutely, super museum. - It is a great museum that transports you into the history of the Belgian DE railway. Several rooms, different atmospheres, smells still present when entering vintage cars (wagons). The museum is very well arranged, a succession DE halls whose artificial light creates a rather unique atmosphere and offers original collections of objects and others in each room. It's exciting, it's fun for both children and adults. I personally loved it. Little mention for the kindness and kindness DE our host at the shop with whom I was able to talk for a few minutes and who brings you a little more to this beautiful visit. It's really an experience to do and it's just happiness. Thank you!

A very rewarding visit! - An excellent visit. Very complete. Very rewarding. Interactive. Amazing historical pieces. A really rich collection with the highlight of the show a simulator. Perfect for kids. Elevators are available everywhere for people with reduced mobility or strollers. To see at least once!

A recommendation for those interested in railways - The museum is easily accessible directly in Schaerbeek station. The old station building forms the entrance to the museum and you can see the beautiful Schlaterhalle with the equipment of the old railway counters. Next to it are 4 large halls, where locomotives and carriages from different eras are displayed, some of which can also be walked. The vivid is supplemented with information about technology or life (for example, a living room of a train guard family). You can tell the museum that it is new, it follows a modern museum pedagogy, uses visual and acoustic effects, in some places it seems a bit much of a good thing, in particular the lettering is more often difficult to read because it is simply too dark. The museum is beautiful and due to the good representation of the exponent you can spend quite a while in it. Other railway museums are significantly larger and still have a large outdoor area with locomotives and carriages (e.g. Nuremberg) but a less appealing presentation than here in Schaerbeek. Overall a very worthwhile museum.

Must See - An amazing display of trains! It’s massive! The displays are well presented and covers the past and present of the railroads in Belgium and connecting countries. Two hours is really the minimum you’ll need to fully immerse yourself in the exhibits. If you like trains, this is a MUST! Even if you really don’t know about trains, this is the place to come!

Recommend the visit to fill the day - Brussels doesn't have many places to visit. This could be a stop that makes you spend a few quiet hours even with children highly recommended. It's not like the one in Berlin, but still cute.

Nice railway museum, however I am concerned about the way the Holocaust is addressed - A bit dark in places, it does have a lot of information about Belgian railways and trains. Interesting for children and families. Big HOWEVER - I was truely shocked at the way the trafficked people to concentration and death camps during world war two were talked about in the displays. Calling these "deportation trains" makes it sound like these people weren't actually normal Belgians, and blaming the "oppressor" and calling it a "gray" topic, when actually it should be a dark day in your history and a sense of deep shame to anyone who participated in the trafficking of Jews, Roma etc for the Holocaust. I think this is handled badly, and should be re-written with greater reflection.
