The American Prohibition Museum, situated in Savannah’s City Market, stands as the first and only museum in the United States devoted to the history of Prohibition. Visitors can embark on a self-guided journey back to the early 1900s, a time when anti-alcohol rallies were prevalent across the nation and the “booze problem” became a significant political issue. The museum vividly portrays America’s battle with the liquor dilemma, the enactment of the 18th Amendment, its effects on the country, and the extensive repercussions of the 13-year Prohibition era.
Enhance your visit with the Guided Tour Option or the Guided Tour & Cocktail Experience option. Both provide a comprehensive 45-minute guided tour. The Guided Tour option includes a cocktail or mocktail crafted to reflect the period. The Guided Tour & Cocktail Experience option offers a bartending session in the speakeasy, where guests can taste an Old Fashioned and create a Bees Knees!
- Guests of all ages are allowed in the museum during all operating hours, but photo ID is required at the door to receive a wristband for admittance to the Speakeasy. Guests under the age of 21 are not permitted in the Speakeasy.
