Lake Tōya - This freshwater lake in southwestern Hokkaido, Japan, is near Uchiura Bay and part of Shikotsu-Toya National Park. As a caldera lake, it spans about 10 kilometers in diameter, nearly circular, covering an area of 70.72 square kilometers. Its circumference is 50 kilometers, with the deepest point at 180.0 meters and an average water depth of 117.0 meters. The water storage capacity is 8.19 cubic kilometers, and the lake is 84 meters above sea level. It is the northernmost ice-free lake in Japan.
Lake Toya Silo Observation Deck is the ideal spot for panoramic views of Lake Toya. From here, you can see all the natural landscapes around Lake Toya, including Lake Island, Mount Yotei, Showa Shinzan, and Mount Usu. - Showa Shinzan Bear Ranch - Located near the entrance of the Showa Shinzan Ropeway, this bear ranch is home to over 100 purebred Hokkaido brown bears, the largest wild mammals in Hokkaido. Visitors can feed the brown bears, who stand up and wave to tourists in an endearing manner when they see food. They are charming and very cute. The horse oil here is reputed to be very beneficial. Admission is 850 yen for adults (junior high school students and above) and 500 yen for children (6 years and above).
