Asahiyama Zoo - 08:00 — Departure from Sapporo Station North Exit Group Bus Stop
10:30 — Arrival at Asahiyama Zoo (Admission Included)
Asahiyama Zoo is one of Japan’s most popular zoos. Contrary to the belief that animals hibernate all winter and zoos become less interesting in the cold, Asahiyama Zoo turns into a magical place in snowy weather: charming penguins take delightful winter strolls, raccoons amusingly climb above visitors, and inquisitive seals glide through transparent tunnels.
The zoo’s unique “behavioral exhibition” design allows animals to live in semi-natural environments, providing visitors with close-up views.
(The Penguin Parade occurs from December to March, usually at 11:00 a.m. The schedule may vary based on snow conditions and weather; viewing is not guaranteed.)
Notice: If Asahiyama Zoo is closed, the tour guide will adjust the attractions based on on-site conditions. Please check the official website to confirm the zoo’s closure dates. -
Ken & Mary Tree - Biei
Biei Iconic Tree Route (Drive-by sightseeing only)
(Note: This is a seasonal attraction from December to March.)
Ken & Mary Tree
This tall poplar tree, named after its appearance in Nissan’s 1972 commercial “Love’s Horizon,” has become a symbol of Biei’s romantic scenery. The couple in the ad, Ken and Mary, made this spot famous throughout Japan. Nearby, a charming yellow triangular house surrounded by Christmas trees creates a fairy-tale-like scene. -
Blue Pond - Furano
Blue Pond (Approx. 30 mins)(Note: This is a seasonal attraction from April to November.)
Situated on the left bank of the Biei River, the Blue Pond was created by a dam built to prevent volcanic damage. Its striking blue color, caused by sunlight reflecting off mineral-rich volcanic sediments, makes it one of Hokkaido’s most enchanting sights. -
Shikisai no Oka - Shikisai no Oka Furano
Drive past HERB GARDEN, and enjoy a complimentary local Hokkaido beverage.
Shikisai no Oka (approx. 50 mins)
(Note: This is a seasonal attraction from December to March.)
In winter, Shikisai no Oka transforms into a snowy paradise covered in pristine white. Visitors can enjoy snowmobiles, sledding, and other exciting snow activities—perfect for beginners. An alpaca farm is also nearby. The rows of trees across the snowy hills resemble silent guardians of the land, creating a minimalist, awe-inspiring winter landscape.
-
Shirahige Falls - Shirahige Falls (seasonal attraction from April to November)
Shirahige Falls in Furano, Hokkaido, is a 30-meter waterfall located at 600 meters elevation in Shirogane Onsen, Biei Town. Its name, “Shirahige” (White Beard), is derived from the water cascading down the rocks like a beard. The spring water creates bluish splashes. In summer, the area is lush and green; in winter, it is blanketed in snow, offering a stunning seasonal contrast. -
Ningle Terrace - Ningle Terrace Forest Elf Terrace (Approx. 30 minutes)
Ningle Terrace in Furano is a forest craft workshop inspired by a character from a novel by Japanese author Sō Kuramoto—a tiny forest elf about 15 cm tall. The terrace features small wooden cottages, each a shop selling unique handmade items such as glass crafts, paper crafts, hand-painted artworks, and crafts made from Furano lavender. Each shop is small and exquisite, offering items exclusive to this location. In the evening, the lights create a romantic atmosphere.
Please note that due to on-site management restrictions or frequent winter traffic incidents, access to Ningle Terrace may be unavailable on the day of your visit. In such cases, to ensure a safe and smooth itinerary, this stop will be canceled. Thank you for your understanding.
