Santo Domingo City Tour - The tour and guide Francisco were excellent . The van was very comfortable and clean . The lunch could have had a few vegetarian options .

Great excursion! - Great excursion. Definitely wear comfortable footwear as there is alot of walking / steps but absolutely awesome. Victor is a great tour guide, very knowledgeable and fluent in various languages.

Good - The tour itself was fantastic. Victor, our tour guide did an amazing job and was very welcoming. He made sure we were well taken care. The company on the other hand could use some professional training. They seemed annoyed when I tried confirming information. Aside from that, it was a great experience.

Most of the sites were just standing outside - Overall we found the tour to be informative, and it gave us a chance to see parts of the city that we wanted to go back to on our own. Our tour guide, Victor, was great and kept things moving. We spent a good amount of time at Tres Ojos, and much less everywhere else. Some sites were closed or weren't allowing visitors that day. The itinerary states 45 minutes for the majority of the sites but that was definitely not the case. As some have said, there were a couple of stops at tourist shops that we could have done on our own, and much faster. I did not know what to expect from the lunch, but it was actually very good. Was the tour worth $70 per person? Maybe not.

Mixed experience — enthusiastic guide but poor organization - I’m giving this tour a 3 because while there were some positive moments, the overall experience was disappointing and I wouldn’t recommend it. On the positive side, our guide was enthusiastic, energetic, and clearly proud of his city. He tried his best to explain and share the culture, and I appreciated his attitude. I also really enjoyed the visit to the Tres Ojos national park and the lunch included in the tour — both were genuinely good parts of the day. Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives. The organization was a mess from the start. We were collected much later than the agreed time (over an hour delay), and there was visible disagreement between the driver and the guide, which caused more wasted time. The itinerary didn’t match what was advertised — several key landmarks entries were skipped, and we lost valuable time in multiple souvenir shops that felt more like forced sales stops than part of a cultural tour. Another issue was that the guide seemed unaware that many museums and landmarks are closed on Mondays, which made parts of the route pointless. Because of the delays and long souvenir-shop stops, we didn’t get to see important attractions that were originally listed. Overall, even though the guide himself was great, the tour’s poor organization and the focus on overpriced souvenir shops instead of real historical sites made the experience feel disappointing. I personally would not recommend it.

Skip it and go to these locations yourselves - A poorly organized, gimmicky tour led by an unengaged guide. The tour began late due to an hour-long wait and a visible disagreement between the transfer driver and a guide. We were the only English speakers in a predominantly Spanish group. The guide heavily favored Spanish, with English summaries being brief and inadequate, making us feel excluded. The city tour portion was disappointing—we only drove past key locations without stopping to explore, making brief, awkward stops just for photos. The Colonial Zone stop was dominated by repetitive visits to souvenir shops, prioritizing sales over historical insight. We felt we would have had a much better experience exploring the city independently or by booking a dedicated, full English-language tour.

Due to weather things... - Due to weather things neededto be adjusted and I was told about one change due to weather. Confirmed it twice! Instead of a cultural trip I got a little culture and lots of shopping and selfie stops. Onöy thing saved them from s worse rating was the freelance guide, who was superb

Language barrier an issue - We signed up for an English speaking tour as we do not speak Spanish. We had a van of 8 tourists of which 2 did not speak English. The tour guide had to give each account in both Spanish then English. His English pronunciations were very hard to understand. I’d say we understood about 50% of what he said. The highlight was definitely the Cathedral where we got to have a headset and could fully appreciate the beautiful church. The buffet lunch was also very good. Because of the language barrier, we feel like we missed out on a lot of interesting information.

Not really what expected - It was an incomplete ‘city tour’ experience. The guide gave misleading information, did not know basics or chose not to answer basic questions about Santo Domingo. Went to 3/4 spots. The visit to the cave was the highlight. There was nothing about Santo Domingo as a capital city, no orientation to the city. Visited four tourist spots that were lame at best…Not worth it- if you are a traveler and want to ‘see’ and learn about the city, what it offers and a little something its people. Check out the city on the web, hire an English speaking Uber driver and enjoy Santo Domingo on your own.

Do not book with Dial Tours - This vendor handled our group booking for a wedding and never paid the hotel. He pocketed tens of thousands of dollars. We only found out the day before our stay, despite paying him in full. It caused a lot of distress for everyone involved. This is a scam — do not book through him. He’s been deleting our reviews
