Mina de Larimar - Arrive at the unique location of the only blue Pectonite mine in the world, Larimar, known for its stunning blue semi-precious stone. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views on the way. During the mine visit, observe the miners extracting the stone and join them in their search if you wish. The transfer to the Larimar Mine takes about 1 hour round trip. The interpretative tour lasts approximately 2 hours, where you can interact with the miners and explore the mine.

Lake Enriquillo and Isla Cabritos

Barahona - Start this full-day tour early. The guides and staff of Larimar Ecotour will warmly welcome you and provide a brief overview of the adventure to Lake Enriquillo and Isla Cabritos.

Barahona - As we pass through Barahona, we’ll take a souvenir photo next to the colorful sign bearing its name. From there, we’ll head to the Cabral crossing, where the guide will share cultural insights about the journey.

Lake Enriquillo (Lago Enriquillo) - The rhinoceros iguana (Cyclura cornuta) will greet us at Lake Enriquillo, where you can see over 50 iguanas in one place. Park rangers and nature guides will provide information about the area, including crocodiles, flamingos, and other birds. After entering the national park, we’ll embark on a boat to Isla Cabritos, the only island within another island. Here, we may encounter the Ricord iguana (Cyclura ricordi) and, if lucky, the American crocodile, which has one of the largest wild populations in the world.

Barahona - Depart from your accommodation towards La Ruta del Café. From the coastal community of Paraiso, travel in a safari-style truck up the mountain to connect with the coffee-growing community of Polo.

Polo - Stop at the intake project initiated by the Balaguer government to boost agricultural production by extracting water from the Nizaito River and developing the Juancho Valley irrigation system.
