Awesome mezcal and alebrijes tour in Oaxaca - I had an amazing day with my guide, David. I was picked up from my accommodation and we headed out of the city. On the way to the maguey fields, we had a stop at the Jacobo & Maria Angeles workshop in San Martin Tilcajete. This was a great place to learn about the process used to make the alebrijes using traditional paints and styles. It was wonderful to see the skilled artisans at work, carving the Copal wood and painting the pieces. We then went to Mezcal Pasion Ancestral. I had the most amazing time learning from Victor all about the different types of maguey plants and their characteristics. After that I was served a traditional Oaxacan lunch of memelitas with avocado, radish, nopales with a lemon and cucumber juice. Victor started the mezcal tastings while I was eating, which was perfect as it meant that I could get the individual taste of each mezcal. Victor was an awesome host and was excited to share his passion for mezcal. The whole tour was fabulous. David was a great driver and guide. He was patient and always answered my questions. He did not rush me at any point and made sure I had the time to enjoy my experiences. I had initially booked a slightly different tour, but as I was the only one who had booked, I was contacted to see if I wanted to change to this private tour. No regrets at all, as this tour (company and guide) gave me everything I was wanting. I highly recommend Mexico Foodie Tours - Oaxaca, and my guide David, as the whole experience from booking to tour was awesome, with great communication and customer service. 😃

Amazing food in an awesome setting! - What an amazing setting and what an amazingly delicious meal! I wish I could have it again right now! The was a very fun and unique experience. Rodrigo was very friendly and accommodating, and his wife made some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. Lots of mezcal to try and you really get to see their family operation in motion. We will definitely be returning!

An unforgettable experience ✨ - An unforgettable experience ✨ Rodrigo and his family welcomed us with a unique hospitality in the mezcal fields of his family. The tour was complete and dynamic: they explained the process of making mezcal in simple words, which allowed us to value this craft art even more. What makes it so special is the naturalness and closeness: his wife, his little daughter and even the dogs of the countryside were present, making us feel at home. The food was delicious and the setting, in the middle of the field, looked like film. The tasting of mezcales was amazing; we learned to recognize the different types of agave and its unique flavors. Without a doubt, an authentic, simple and perfect experience to connect with our roots and with this Mexican tradition. Thank you!

An Amazing Mezcal Experience in Oaxaca - Visiting this maguey field was one of the highlights of our trip to Oaxaca. From the moment we arrived, Rodrigo, our guide, made us feel incredibly welcome. He gave us a fascinating tour of the maguey field and explained every step of the artisanal mezcal-making process in detail. The mezcal tasting was outstanding—we could try as many varieties as we wanted, and every single one was excellent. Also, the traditional Mexican dishes prepared by Rodrigo's wife were absolutely delicious. Will definitely go back on my next visit to Oaxaca!
