Great Way to Get a Taste of Querétaro, the Cradle of Independence - Our driver Alejandro gets five stars from us for his in-depth cultural knowledge. He provided us many details as we made our way to Querétaro from Guanajuato. He made sure we felt comfortable and got us back to our hotel safely and in a timely manner after a jam packed day. We visited the Querétaro aquaduct with its Roman-style completed in 1738 to provide drinking water to the provincial capital of Querétaro. We saw it and a lovely view of the city at the Mirador de los Arcos, and then walked over to Panteón de los Queretanos Ilustres. It was directly across from the lookout. It featured the mausoleum of Doña Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez (a foundational hero of the Mexican War of Independence; famous for risking her life in 1810 to warn Miguel Hidalgo that his plot against Spanish colonial rule had been uncovered, prompting the Hidalgo's famous "Grito de Dolores") and other prominent Mexican independence figures. Alejandro then took us to a museum we really wanted to visit the MUCAL Calendar Museum which we loved! Then we visited the Pena de Bernal, one of the tallest monoliths in the world. The scheduling of our tour we would give two stars as we waited for our tour guide at our hotel 15 minutes prior to set time of departure, 8 am with no one there until 915 AM. I had to WhatsApp the company which did not respond until after 9 and then promptly sent us a driver. Our tour did not start until 915 AM. It may have had to do with me booking it at 7 PM the night before? It did show the option to book though. It appeared the person in charge of scheduling dropped the ball. I would recommend looking out for a confirmation message prior or reaching out to the company on WhatsApp which is on your confirmation email to make sure everything is scheduled and ready to go.
