Perfect Atitlan Experience - An incredible and rewarding experience! Both guides provided excellent service and enhanced the journey with their expertise. Our tour guide was also an environmental scientist and was able to speak to the every aspect of the volcano. The local guide knew every wild bird call by heart and treated us to some extremely rare finds. This hike is advanced and could be tough for those not used to long, steep climbs. I would recommend packing adequate water and hiking snacks for the journey as well as sunscreen—especially for the exposed summit. If you are up to the task, I can’t think of a better way to experience the Atitlan area. Every time my wife and I looked at the massive volcano (which dominates almost every view around the lake), we were able to say “we climbed that”.
