Terrific experience - Great experience. Swimming at the base of the waterfall was exhilarating. The strenuousness of the hike can be varied to accommodate the traveler. Understanding the organic coffee production at La Victoria was fascinating. Our guide Hugo Lopez Martinez was amazing. He taught us about history, medicinal plants, local attractions. We had two food experiences in Minca that we quite enjoyed. Would highly recommend Hugo. He made our tour special and personalized it to our interests.

Fun day experiencing, and learning about, the Minka area- from waterfalls to a cocoa farm! - My family of 5 (ages ranging from 5 to 73) just had a wonderful, fun filled day exploring, experiencing and learning about the Minka area of Columbia with our guide Hugo López. We stopped first in the town of Minka for delicious coffee and home-made chocolate breads from La Miga panaderia and then headed up to the Marinka waterfalls. Hugo made sure we got there before the crowds so we were able to swim and play by the waterfall which was perfect on a hot day! After the waterfalls we headed up to Finca La Candelaria, a family run cocoa farm that was established over 100 years ago. We learned about organic cocoa cultivation and had a hands on experience to learn the process of fermenting, drying, roasting and grinding the beans and we tasted the final product - from the nibs to the chocolate with local honey to the milk chocolate with added milk and sea salt. It was fascinating as well as a lot of fun for my grandsons who are 5 and 8. We finished with a great lunch in a restaurant overlooking the river in Minka. I can’t say enough good things about the day and our guide, Hugo and driver, Jesus. Hugo was a wealth of information and knew how to impart it in an interesting manner to keep even the young boys engaged and asking questions. He speaks excellent English and taught us a lot about the culture, history, flora and fauna of Columbia with a focus on this area. Jesus made us feel safe at all times on the crazy steep and windy roads with his excellent driving!! I highly recommend this Bukap travels tour and be sure to request Hugo and Jesus!

The perfect day trip from Santa Marta - We had a great day visiting Minca and the surrounding area! Hugo was an amazing guide- we have decided that he was the best, most knowledgeable and most genuine tour guide we’ve ever had. The tour itself was fun, exciting and interesting the whole time. We had a blast swimming in the waterfall pool- which was COLD but once you get in, you get used to it quickly, then touring the cacao farm and getting to make chocolate was a highlight for all of us. They also went out of their way to make it special for our five year old and eight year old. The roads and drive were an adventure in itself- in a good way- and Hugo and our driver Jesus were a great team, and altogether we will recommend this day trip from Santa Marta to anyone and everyone who is visiting the area!

Great Coffee, Stunning Waterfalls, and an Amazing Guide! - This tour was an incredible experience and a highlight of our trip to Colombia. Our tour guide Hugo was the Best! After spending the day with him, we left feeling like we had made a new friend. The tour was very special. We started in town near where we were glamping and grabbed a quick bite before heading to La Victoria Coffee Farm. La Victoria is very unique in that they still use machinery that is over 100 years old. Their coffee was also delicious. We then headed to Marinka Waterfalls. Unless you want a strenuous workout, I suggest the 4 X 4 option. There is a short hike to the falls. Hadar our driver for the day was great, as was the driver to the falls. The falls are beautiful. We decided to take a dip for some photos (which I highly recommend) but the water was quite chilly. Hugo was also an amazing photographer and we got some great shots. We saw a lot of beauty in our 9 days in Colombia but what really made this tour special was our guide Hugo. He was knowledgeable and passionate. He shared so many insights about the region and went above and beyond to make sure we thoroughly enjoyed our day! We will be back to tour with him again and can't recommend this experience enough.
