Embracing the Mystical Charm of Santa Marta’s Lost City
Santa Marta, a city nestled between the Caribbean Sea and the Sierra Nevada mountains, offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. This weekend, as the skies promise a symphony of rain, the city unveils its mystical charm, inviting adventurers to explore its hidden treasures. The rain, often seen as a hindrance, transforms the landscape into a lush, vibrant tapestry, enhancing the allure of the ancient Tayrona city.
The 4-Day Walking Tour to the Lost City of Sierra Nevada is a journey back in time, offering a glimpse into the lives of the Tayrona people. The trek begins at the break of dawn, with the first rays of sunlight piercing through the dense jungle canopy. As you ascend the 1,200 stone steps, the rain-soaked paths glisten, and the air is filled with the earthy scent of the forest. The journey is challenging, yet rewarding, as each step brings you closer to the heart of the ancient city.
“You have to. Super recommended. - Amazing experience. I traveled alone and was fortunate to have Esneider as a guide and to have a small group, however, I was able to share not only with my group but with people from other agencies as they all lend each other a lot of help, mutual support and hya a lot of companionship. That combination allowed me to talk a lot with Esneier who is has a lot of knowledge and passion in his work and professionalism. He explained everything about the area and cultures, that is, I could have personalized attention, spaces alone, spaces with other tourists and something very good is that my colleagues were adults around 55-60 years and Esneider accompanied them could always go to their own pace. This motivates me to take my parents soon, as although the hike is demanding there are frequent breaks and the guides have a lot of responsibility to the tourists. It’s hard in stretches but it’s possible and challenges you physically and mentally. Along the way there are often stations with free fruit and sale of drinks or package food. The logistics and organization of the tour is excellent, the food delicious, Yuly the cook was very friendly and attentive always. The camps are clean, organized, have cameras, showers, awnings, and are improving infrastructure to improve the experience. Super recommended. 500/10” - Reviewed on 2025-04-04
