Santa Marta - Mamey - Camp 1
Edificio Sierra Nevada - The journey kicks off around 7:30 AM as we set off in a 4x4 truck for a 2.5-hour drive to the Mamey region. Upon arrival, we have lunch before embarking on our quest to find the sacred site of the Tayronas, the ancient inhabitants of The Lost City. By late afternoon, we reach Camp 1, surrounded by rivers, natural pools, and waterfalls perfect for relaxation. Dinner is served, and accommodations in hammocks are provided for a restful night’s sleep.
Camp 1 - Mutanzi - Camp 3
Edificio Sierra Nevada - The day starts with an early breakfast, followed by a trek through the Buritaca river valley. Along the way, we encounter numerous houses forming the indigenous Kogui village of Mutanshi. Our 7-hour journey takes us through the Sierra Nevada jungle, showcasing its natural diversity, until we finally arrive at Camp 3. Here, we have dinner, rest, and spend the night.
Camp 3 - Lost City - Camp 2
Edificio Sierra Nevada - After an early breakfast, we begin our ascent to the Lost City, climbing 1,200 steps built by the Tayronas. Upon arrival, the guide provides insights into this magical place filled with relics and ancestral stories. We spend the morning enjoying the scenery, with ample time for rest and photos. After lunch, we retrace our steps back to Camp 2 for dinner and an overnight stay.
DAY 4: Camp 2 - Mamey - Santa Marta
Edificio Sierra Nevada - The final day starts with breakfast before we head back to our starting point. Along the way, we encounter rivers and waterfalls for refreshing breaks. We eventually reach Mamey for lunch, where a truck awaits to take us back to Santa Marta, arriving around 5:00 PM. This marks the end of a fulfilling adventure in the magical Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
