At the top, around 400 meters high, there is a breathtaking view of the Tempisque River lowlands, the Gulf of Nicoya, and some of its islands.
Terciopelo Cave:
This formation is as intriguing as the body itself, as it produces different tones when its walls are gently tapped. It has a total depth of 62 meters. The descent into the cave takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour at most and requires special caving equipment. Entry begins with an initial vertical descent of 17 meters, followed by a continued descent down a 35° inclined plane to the east. Other remarkable features include the stunning “lion’s head” and “curtains.”
Cuevita Cave: Designed specifically for children aged 4 to 12 years. This cave has a depth of around 2 meters, showcasing impressive formations of stalagmites and stalactites.
Children need a valid passport to verify age. A printed copy or a picture on a mobile device is acceptable.

Situated in the province of Guanacaste, the geological importance of speleology is highlighted by the presence of underground caverns, which have taken approximately 60 million years to form from coral sand.
The journey covers about 2 miles round trip through the tropical dry forest, taking roughly 1.5 hours. Participants descend approximately 17 meters using harness equipment secured by a safety line. Inside the caves, visitors can observe the formation of stalagmites and stalactites, spending around 30 minutes exploring.
There is a dedicated cave for children, which must be supervised by an adult.

The vegetation is primarily deciduous, and visitors may occasionally spot wildlife such as capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, deer, and various birds.
