The Galapagos Archipelago is positioned roughly a thousand kilometers westward from the coast of mainland Ecuador. Throughout history, varying airstreams and ocean currents have challenged navigators in finding these islands, leading to their nickname - ‘the enchanted islands’. Thanks to this remote position, the islands have preserved their distinctive collection of flora and fauna despite human interaction, transforming them into a unique haven on our planet that offers tranquility and an extensive array of wildlife. It was in 1835, after visiting four of the total eleven islands, that the profoundly moved Charles Darwin formulated his ‘Theory of Evolution’.
