- Pacaya - This is the exclusive location to book a horse for Pacaya. Upon arrival, your horse will be ready, adorned in the vibrant colors of Guatemala. Each horse comes with a personal cowboy guide to ensure your safety throughout the experience. Ride across lava rock to witness breathtaking views of three other volcanoes, reaching the base of Pacaya Volcano. Here, a private lava chef will be waiting to help you roast marshmallows over the hot lava pockets and prepare a pizza cooked on the lava coals. Enjoy a luxurious experience as your host sets up a colorful Mayan picnic complete with cushions, blankets, and wine service. If a sunset tour is available, stay to watch the sunset before your cowboy guide safely escorts you back to your transportation to Antigua. We are Soul Shine Horse Rescue, and a portion of all tours supports the horses and their families. Please note, a minimum of two people is required for this tour. If you are traveling alone, contact us, and we will try to include you in a tour. Currently, in the dry season, tours start at 2 pm to capture the best sunset views! Bookings require 24 hours’ notice as this is a luxury tour.

Worth The Price - Best service we’ve had during our stay in Antigua! Came directly to our door to pick us up. Treated us very well and made sure we made it safe there and back!
The horses are so docile and obedient, perfect for first time riders!
Guy and Oscar were our host/guide, truly the best of the best. We loved that all of the proceeds go to the horses! I’ve had a love for horses since a young age and truly felt at peace knowing these majestic animals are taken care of!!!

Best guides and experience of a lifetime - We could t have been luckier to get the best guide in all of Central America: Guy the Canadian Cowboy! He was nothing short of impressive with all of his hard and backed facts about topography, geography and historical Mayan knowledge. He went above and beyond to provide us with front door pick up /drop off and drink accommodations on truck ride to the volcano! He was also very entertaining and took lots of great pictures for us on the horses! We had a true Guatemalan cowgirl experience we all will never forget! The views were incredible and the horses were the sweetest and tamest! We recommend it for everyone!!

Horseback tour with Guy - Our tour guide was Guy and he was great!! We did a morning tour to Pacaya Volcano on horseback. He made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed to and from the volcano. Not to mention he also gave us a great list of recommended spots to check out in Antigua. Highly recommend booking your next tour with him ☺️

Amazing tour and organization! - So. Much. Fun! Dave, aka Alaska, was such a treat! He was so knowledgeable about the amazingness of Guatemala and had such great stories to tell about Nikki (the owner of the animal reserve the tour is done through). What their organization is doing is truly inspiring and warmed my heart to hear how well the animals are preserved and cared for. Their work transcends beyond helping tourists see the beauty of Antigua. They are truly changing the lives of so many animals and it’s inspiring.
The tour was a blast! And to eat pizza and s’mores made with the lava coals from the volcano?! Come on! And the pizza was super good too! The horses were beautiful and gentle. And most importantly, you learn SO much!
Thank you to Nikki, Dave and the awesome cowboys for fitting us in and making it such a memorable experience! We look forward to next time!

Christmas Day Sunset Tour - These guys made my Christmas Day. Guy, the guide, was great. As a solo female, I felt comfortable and safe the entire time. I’m very happy I chose this small, intimate tour over some of the larger, less personal tours. I highly recommend this tour.

An adventure to invest in! - Such a great experience! Definitely had everything covered. Our guide was super informative and very knowledgeable about the land. His timing was perfect and I would highly recommend this adventure. The horses were taken care of and super fun to ride. The cowboy even took photos of us and shared them all at the end.

❤️ Guatemala Adventures❤️ - Amazing! A unique and unforgettable experience🙏 The horseback ride to Pacaya Volcano was an incredible and very well-organized experience. The route is beautiful, with stunning landscapes and a calm atmosphere that allows you to fully enjoy the journey.😊😊
We would especially like to highlight Guy, this wonderful person who was very attentive and kind throughout the entire activity, His support, willingness to help, and knowledge made the experience even more enjoyable and safe. Magical experience - I had a fantastic time on this trip. It really was a unique experience. I don't have much experience with horses but I felt safe and looked after by the cowboys and our guide Dave from Alaska. We drove through a huge electric storm on route to the volcano. We waited until it was safely past and rode up to the top. Cowboys stayed with us the whole way. Being on Pacaya is a really special and humbling experience. The views of sunset, a distant storm and Fuego erupting and shooting lava into the night sky is quite a thing to behold. Pizza and beer was fun, even in the rain, and hanging out with the local dogs and horses was cool. David is a passionate and friendly guide who clearly loves his job. Jimmy the cowboy took amazing photos that he shared at the end. A very special day. Thanks!

Perfect day trip from Antigua - We had a really lovely time. The entire experience we felt luxuriously taken care of. We were picked up at our hotel, our guide provided us with snacks and water during the drive over. The team of cowboys we met were friendly and helpful. The ride up the mountain is beautiful. Would absolutely recommend.
