- Geyser del Tatio - El Tatio, derived from the Kunza term “tata-iu” meaning “the grandfather who cries,” is among the highest geyser fields globally. Situated in the Andes Mountains northeast of San Pedro de Atacama, it is the largest geyser group in the southern hemisphere and ranks third worldwide, following Yellowstone (USA) and Dolina Giezerow (Russia). The peak activity of these fumaroles occurs between 06:00 and 07:00 hrs, with temperatures soaring to 85°C. On the return journey, visitors can spot wildlife such as vicuñas, llamas, rheas, and vizcachas. The flora features impressive giant cacti, llaretas, and coirón. From a viewpoint, the small town of Machuca can be seen, where the few residents primarily engage in grazing and cheese production. Nearby is the Laguna Salada, home to flamingo families, ducks, and seagulls, set against a stunningly beautiful landscape.

Very Accommodating - This was a great tour! The tour guide was very informative and did a great job checking in on me throughout the day. The tour company was very accommodating to dietary restrictions during breakfast!

Amazing El Tatio Tour - We had a wonderful experience on the El Tatio Geysers tour! The tour was very well organized, and a special mention goes to our guide and driver, Alex and Vanessa.
They were both incredibly knowledgeable about the area and gave us clear and interesting explanations throughout the tour. They were also very friendly, fun, and helpful, which made the experience even more enjoyable. You could really feel their passion and expertise in the territory.
The breakfast was also excellent and was a lovely touch, especially after the early morning start.

Great way to see the Geysers and experience the high altitude of the Andes - The Geyser was one of the highlights of our trip.
We managed to get a lot of great photos. We saw so many animals as well. We saw vicunas, American Rhea, flamingos and Viscachas.
The guide and the driver took great care of us.

Wonderful guides! - It was a great experience, the guide Alex and his companion (forgot the name) were wonderful.
They explained everything patiently, very polite, fulfilled the schedules religiously.
People like them make the walks easy and enjoyable.

Excellent El Tatio Geyser tour with Marta and Andres - I truly enjoyed my El Tatio Geyser tour with Marta and Andres. The communication leading up to the tour was excellent. They weee very clear about what clothing to wear (it can be very cold in the winter, so bring everything they suggest and you will be perfect). I really appreciated the door to door service, especially since the tour started very early in the morning. The bus was comfortable and climate controlled for the one and a half hour drive.
Marta conducted the tour in Spanish and English which was very helpful. The tour stops were incredible. The geysers were interesting and beautiful but it was the overall experience of how the landscape transforms as the sun rises that I will remember. While the geysers were the highlight, the lagoon, wildlife, and flamingos were absolutely unique to Chile and made for an excellent tour.

Did not reschedule my trip - I reserved a trip, and then changed the date on Trip Ad isor. However, the operator must not have seen the date change because the old dates passed, and my trip disappeared. I lost my payment. So now I need to find another trip if I can.
