Then a brief drawing or painting demonstration will be given.
Then students will choose their favorite topic, portrait, still life or landscape. Students can also choose drawing, pastels or watercolors or oils. Maestra Isis, will be available to assist and troubleshoot.
At the end of class, students will enjoy an art work that they can take home and frame as a beautiful memory of their experience!
Students that choose oils, will need to book 2 days. All equipment, models, and or photos, and art materials are included.

Isis Rodriguez Art Studio is between Francisco Lanzagorta and Avenida Independencia. If it is your first time visiting San Miguel, please take a cab and include the colonia with the address. My Art Studio is housed in a brick and terracotta modern building.

An Amazing Way to Spend an Afternoon! - My daughter took an art class with Isis in November, 2025. She had a marvelous time, and rated it as her favorite experience after a busy week in San Miguel (which included visiting the Tianguis, the Centro Historico, La Fabrica Auroria, touring Queretaro, visiting the Art Institute, etc.).
Isis focuses her attention on the student, and caters to their needs. My daughter will be incorporating Isis' help tips on how to improve her artwork, which has been a goal of hers for the past few years.

Professional assessment given in an engaging atmosphere - Ms. Rodriguez is an exceptional instructor who listened to what I wanted from the class, interpreted what I needed based on her observations of my skill set level, and provided demos to clarify on what she advised.
As a painter who had put this pursuit on hold for many years, I was particularly attracted to how the workshop was advertised. I received next steps and look forward to applying what I gained upon my return from vacation.

An amazing experience! - Isis offers an amazing artistic experience. As a novice painter, I appreciated her helpful approach to explaining the watercolor painting process - and how to blend colors and create a baseline template to achieve the desired outcome. Isis' studio is welcoming and her work is incredibly impressive. I highly recommend this class to artists of all levels!

Isis is a great teacher! - Isis is an amazing teacher! I have done very little drawing or painting in the last 50 years and my skills are rusty to say the least. She intuitively understood my skill level and the kind of exercise that would be most helpful to me. I learned so much in 3 hours -- and it was fun, too! Highly recommended-- the highlight of my trip to San Miguel!Isi

Art studio instruction - Instructor isis Rodrigues is a fantastic artist and a very knowledgeable instructor. She is from the US and speaks English. I highly recommend her if you would like to learn to paint or already know how and want to learn additional techniques.

Fabulous experience! Art teacher Isis Rodríguez is a gift - Isis has a gift to teach art. My son had never painted before so he was a bit apprehensive at first, but Isis made clear up front that everyone is an artist. By setting the table with this approach, my son and I dove into picking our projects and learning to lightly sketch out our images. Isis proceeded to teach us about color and how to begin to approach the painting. She did it with such grace and kindness. My son and I simply had a blast. Highly recommend this class for anyone from the beginner to the expert. Isis speaks to the artist in all of us. We are very grateful to her.

Wonderful intro to charcoal portraiture. - Great class with Isis Rodriguez, a very talented SMA artist and enthusiastic teacher. Highly recommend for solo travelers or small groups. The more time/ sessions the better , but my single 3 hour class was lovely.

Took a chance and am so glad! - What a great experience! I arrived to find that I was the only student signed up so ended up having a private conversation and tutorial. I have no formal art training so after a brief discussion about the history of Mexican art, Isis helped me choose charcoal portraiture for my single day 3 hour class. It was such an enjoyable time and I left inspired to get started creating at home. If you have more time in SMA I can imagine that the month long offerings would be amazing. Thank you!
