Interesting caves. We got our workout! - We booked this excursion via Viatour on the phone. I didn’t realize all that was included. It was definitely worth the price. We were staying between San Juan and the caves, so our tour guide texted me personally prior to the excursion so that we could join the tour closer to where we were staying rather than having to drive all the way to San Juan. That was very helpful for us. The van looked like a brand new (I think Mercedes) van with a very tall ceiling. It was very clean and comfortable. Our tour guide, Joma, was very knowledgeable, cheerful, and extremely helpful in challenging climbing locations. The tour explanation said that it was moderately strenuous and I would agree with that. I’m 65 and my partner is 70. I’m pretty fit. I do deep Water Aerobics three days per week and bicycle regularly. The hills were steep and moderately long. There were many areas of uneven rocks in the water as well as out of the water. We brought collapsible hiking sticks, which were very helpful. There were a couple of times when I needed help from our tour guide spanning rocks that were a little too far apart for me to hoist myself completely on my own power. I’m 5’6” and an average size. My partner scrapped his leg at one point on lava rock. I share all of this because I want others to know exactly what they’re getting into. We loved our tour! Our tour guide was fabulous. We ate lunch at a reasonably priced local restaurant and the food was yummy. Joma explained what the foods were that I didn’t recognize. I had a stew with pasta, several types of meat, and vegetables. After lunch we continued our tour west. If you are afraid of heights, there is an area where you can relax on the beach during the second half of the tour. To go see the caves with the petroglyphs, you are on an exposed hill and the day we were there, it was quite windy. Again, Joma was extremely helpful. The caves themselves were beautiful and learning about the history of the Taino people was interesting. There were three other people on our tour in their late 20’s who were fit, yet parts of the tour were challenging for the two women. Not a tour for kids under about age 14 imo.

Fan-freaking-tastic Experience for the Whole Family! - Joe was our Guide and he led my family (2 high schoolers and an elementary kid) through the water canyons and Indian caving experience with perfection. He stopped to point out all the wall carvings, picked up exotic flowers and plants, explained the geology of the land, hand-held us through the challenging parts, and took AMAZING photos AND videos which we will remember forever! What a treat! Best ever - do it!!!

I recently did the river... - I recently did the river caving experience at Charco azul along with a visit of the Indian Caves, and it was truly unforgettable. Our guide Guía was excellent, incredibly knowledgeable, full of fascinating information, very kind, and clearly passionate about the area. The landscapes were absolutely stunning, both in charco azul and in the Indian caves. We also stopped for lunch at a local restaurant recommended by our guide, which served delicious Puerto Rican food at very affordable prices, such a perfect addition to the day! I can’t recommend this experience enough. It’s absolutely worth it!

Amazing! 10 out of 10! - So much fun! It was incredible to swim in the caves and jump into the river, and I loved learning about the history of the cave formation and the indigenous tribes that carved their dieties into the rock. Definitely worth the money. Plus our guide Jose was awesome!

Jump in. - Really fun and easy activity for my family. My 10 year old had no problem climbing boulders, logs and vines and jumping in the river. One portion of the hike was a little tough but other than that it was a fun adventure. Our guide Joe was super friendly.

They canceled on us last minute - We booked this months in advance. We did not hear anything from them by the afternoon before, so we called the number that trip advisor had. They said they were waiting on another couple to decide if they still wanted to go, because they had a minimum of four people. They didn't let us know that they had to cancel until 630 pm the night before. They tried to pass us to another company who had an opening, but they were not doing the Indian cave (which we were looking forward to). I asked them if there were any others that do both caves, and she said none that she would trust. We ended up looking on our own and found a wonderful company who took accepted us 7pm that night for the next day, and just us. and we had the best intimate tour with them instead.
