Next, the tour will head to Piñones, a vibrant area rich in Black Heritage. Here, guests can enjoy African-Taino-inspired street food and observe the traditional preparation of dishes, crafted right before their eyes in the last place where this is still practiced.
Using age-old techniques passed down through generations, the locals of this colorful community will prepare delicacies such as Alcapurrias, a Taino-African fritter made from yuca and yautía; Piononos, an African-inspired fritter featuring a flour-coated sweet plantain nest; and Empanadillas, a Spanish-African fritter made with a flour-based dough, all filled with a choice of meat or seafood and fried to perfection.
