Mr. Pollo
Treat yourself to an early lunch with the $20 4-course tasting menu from Chef Manny. Delicious! If his arepas aren't on the pre-fix menu that day, it's worth ordering one separately. What makes this place so amazing is that his tasting menu is different everyday .... he shops at the local farmer's market and will cook with what's in season.
Ike’s Place
If you aren't full after Mr. Pollo (and even if you are), you have to stop by Ike's and grab a sandwich to share. My favorite is the Matt Cain (the pitcher as well as the sandwich). Skip the Menagie Tois.
Tartine Bakery
Dessert time! Tartine is THE place to go for scrumptious baked goods in the mission. Prepare to wait in line though, the secret is out about their carby yumminess. I would get the tres leches cake. Or a piece of it, whatever you feel like.
Boba Guys
If you've never tried or aren't a fan of bubble tea, you will be after you visit Boba Guys. 2 guys who quit their day jobs for a while just to focus on the art of tea brewing. Using the finest teas from around the world, you can really taste the quality. If its available, you will want to try their scratch-made almond pudding. TO DIE!
Ferry Building
Walk off your half-day of eating by strolling to the Ferry Building. There's so much to explore here from cheeses, to wines to meats. Grab a little pick-me-up at Blue Bottle Coffee Company while you're exploring.
Hog Island Oyster Co.
Grab a dozen (or 2) of oysters from Hog Island. If the weather is nice, try to get a seat outside to get a great view of the bay.
zero zero
Round up a group for dinner here - order lots to share. I highly recommend their bucatini pasta dish or their roasted meatballs. If they are in season, their spring pickles are also mouth-wateringly good.
