Our guide Dan is why I chose this rating. As a native of Chinatown, Dan is a loving and knowledgeable advocate of his neighborhood. He really listened to us and our questions about his culture, history, food and architecture, and showed us so much more than we expected to see. We had a great time.

As a long time SF resident I've been to Chinatown many times; but on a whim I booked the Explore SF tour and had the good fortune to join a small walking tour led by Dan Chew. Instead of a 'scripted' few hours, he spoke sincerely and knowledgeably about this district that he grew up in sharing personal anecdotes as well as many interesting facts about the history, architecture, and culture - capturing the vibrancy and resilience of this neighborhood. Besides interesting sites including a Buddhist temple and a tea lounge, he gave us great tips on markets and restaurants to return to. I'm reaching out to several friends to book a food tour together with Dan in Chinatown in the near future; it was great to meet him and I highly recommend his tours.

I felt the guide did not have enough knowledge in his head about the subject matter. To much having to constantly read from his iPad. Nice guy, made a effort to be sure the group did not get lost and yet let us explore the stores and temples.
