Great information and stories shared! - Over all great experience. My digital ticket could not be accessed at time of entry but the driver was helpful and very accommodating allowing me to enter and show it as soon as it was available. Once it came up on the website again, I took a screen shot for future access. At my next stop they could not print a paper ticket from the screen shot but they were quick to figure out how to manually input the info.

Do not book a SF hop on, hop off bus tour thru Alcatraz Bikes & Tours - I strongly advise against booking a hop on, hop off San Francisco bus tour where the provider is listed as “Alcatraz Bikes and Tours”. Apparently this company acts in this case as a third party and is not the actual company that operates the tour bus. That company as I later learned (because it is NOT specified in the purchase confirmation emailed from Trip Advisor) is actually named “City Sightseeing”, one of two companies in San Francisco that operate hop on, hop off tours. I don’t have a problem with City Sightseeing per se, only with Alcatraz Bikes and Tours (and also with Trip Advisor for providing inadequate info. in this case). The problem I had is basically this: the confirmation email from Trip Advisor includes a bar code which is a booking reference number. It is NOT the actual ticket required to get on the bus. That ticket has an identifier that is different from the Trip Advisor ID. When I attempted to use the Trip Advisor email bar code on one of the tour buses, they told me this was not the correct required documentation. I then called the provider contact number on the email. The person who answered was incredibly rude and unhelpful. He kept insisting he had sent the needed e-ticket to my phone. He did not. (All I was able to find out from him is that City Sightseeing is the actual bus line). I checked my text messages going back several days and there was NOTHING from this provider, only the receipt from Trip Advisor. I requested this individual to re-send the ticket info. but he refused to do so, after several earnest requests from me. Thus, I was left without a valid ticket for the day bus tour. I believe this very rude and hostile “customer disservice” person cannot possibly provide evidence of any text their company sent to my number, as none was received. As such I feel justified in requesting a refund of $89.00 from Trip Advisor.
