• USS Midway Museum - The Triton will pass by the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier that was once part of the United States Navy and the lead ship of its class. Commissioned just eight days after World War II ended, the Midway was the largest ship globally until 1955 and the first U.S. aircraft carrier too large to pass through the Panama Canal. It served for 47 years, participating in the Vietnam War and acting as the Persian Gulf flagship during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. Decommissioned in 1992, it now serves as a museum ship at the USS Midway Museum in San Diego, California, and is the only non-Essex-class inactive U.S. aircraft carrier remaining.
• Maritime Museum of San Diego - Founded in 1948, the Maritime Museum of San Diego houses one of the most extensive collections of historic sea vessels in the United States. Situated on the San Diego Bay, the museum’s highlight is the Star of India, an iron bark from 1863. The museum also operates the MacMullen Library and Research Archives on the 1898 ferryboat Berkeley and publishes the quarterly peer-reviewed journal Mains’l Haul: A Journal of Pacific Maritime History.
