Miradores Canon del Sumidero - Departure from San Cristobal at 8:45 am. The first stop of the day is a place where nature transforms into visual poetry. From the top of the initial viewpoint, the scenery unfolds like an endless canvas of greens, mountains, and open skies. It is the perfect beginning to a day filled with wonder, connection, and unforgettable moments that will be cherished forever! Note: Closed on Tuesdays.
Parque Nacional Canon del Sumidero - Experience a boat ride through the towering waters of Sumidero Canyon, where rock walls rise up to a thousand meters above the Grijalva River, creating a breathtaking natural spectacle. Onboard, the wind gently caresses the face as caves, waterfalls, and the rich biodiversity of this natural sanctuary are discovered. This tour inspires admiration and respect for the majesty of Chiapas.
Chiapa de Corzo - Discover Chiapa de Corzo, a charming magical village on the banks of the Grijalva River, where history and tradition are present in every corner. Stroll through its central square, dominated by the impressive Mudejar fountain known as La Pila, built in the 16th century with red brick and an octagonal shape, unique in its style in Latin America. Interestingly, Chiapa de Corzo was the first city founded by the Spanish in the current state of Chiapas in 1528, marking the beginning of a rich cultural fusion that still thrives.
San Cristobal- San Juan Chamula- Zinacantan- San Cristobal
San Juan Chamula - At 9:15 am, embark on a journey to the indigenous communities of the Tzotzil ethnic group, immersing in a world of living traditions and unique culture in San Juan Chamula. In this sacred place, spirituality manifests in surprising ways: in its main church, there are no conventional pews or altars, and prayers mix with the smoke of the cupola and the glow of thousands of burning candles directly on the ground. This blend of Mayan and Catholic beliefs creates a mystical atmosphere that deeply resonates.
Zinacantan - Next, visit Zinacantán, a land of flowers and colors, where the church is adorned with fresh petals and a family cooperative is visited. Here, women proudly demonstrate the art of the waist loom, an ancient technique that has survived from pre-Columbian times, passed down through generations. Admire the beauty of its textiles, rich with symbolism and dedication, and then proceed to the kitchen, where a typical regional drink is shared, and if fortunate, enjoy handmade tortillas, warm and full of history.
After this immersive experience in the Tzotzil communities, return to San Cristobal de Las Casas with a heart full of gratitude and senses enriched with culture, flavor, and tradition.
San Cristobal - Blue Water & Misolha Waterfall- Palenque
Cascadas de Agua Azul - Depart from San Cristobal at 3:30 am and enter a natural paradise when visiting the Blue Water Cascades, where water flows in intense turquoise tones over limestone formations, creating a series of falls and pools that seem to be drawn from a dream. Surrounded by the lush Chiapas jungle, these waterfalls are a visual and auditory spectacle that invites contemplation and wonder. A fun fact: the blue color of the water is due to its high mineral content and the sunlight reflecting off the calcareous bottom, a natural phenomenon that varies with the season and intensity of the flow.
Misol-Ha - Venture into the Chiapas jungle to discover the majestic Misol-Ha waterfall, a cascade of more than 30 meters that plunges into a pool surrounded by lush vegetation. The sound of water and the freshness of the surroundings create a unique sensory experience. Fun fact: this stunning natural setting was used as a location in the film Predator (1987), starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, which brought international fame and made it a cinematic icon of the region.
Palenque - The day concludes at the bus station between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm, depending on the group. Note: The visit to the archaeological area of Palenque is not included.
